Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

possibly one of the most useful apps ever. it essentially freezes any apps selected so they won't run in the background, only when you open them.

you can greenify non-system apps without root, but you need root for system apps.

The led on mine was flashing iirc it might have been steady on i cant really remember tbh it was back in jan i think. Think it flashed tho when charger was in it.

Maybe dry it more i dunno stick it on a fireplace top or on top of fridge i hear is warm etc.

I still reckon it probably will be savable. The two min trick i think did work iirc but i think i did it for 3 mins or so just to be on the safe side. This was after i think leaving it for a day or two then put the charger from wall in (make sure decent one if poss) and then dont touch it i.e try to turn it on till the next day?

About battery savers i use battery doctor. Seems to run nicely and has a nice task killer if needed.

cheers skeeter.

i'm gonna leave it plugged in overnight and see what's happening tomorrow.

the only 'good' sign i've had so far is that under where the phone is it's ever so slightly warm (not battery charging warm) which at least gives the impression something 'may' be happening.

Just popped into phones4u and picked one of these up for £109 sim-free. Also some Easter deal for a free 'shell' as well, but that'll probably just find it's way into the bin.

Now just need to dig around and see if I have a nano to micro sim adapter.

Aye, I know they can be got for £100, but was prepared to sacrifice £10 so I could just pick it up and go while I was passing the shop.

As it turns out, I have to wait till I get home anyway as I need the sim adapter, so my plan backfired slightly!

Are vodafone sim-free? I know the unlock codes are only a couple of quid on ebay though.

do you think there's any chance i could get this warranty replaced due to water damage?

no chance they put little water detector stickers in the phone to ensure people who have exposed them to water don't send them back under these circumstances and get new phones.

the only way to do it would be to make a fraudulent claim and remove their stickers and replace them with brand new ones.

afaik there's only a couple of handsets made by sony iirc which are actually designed to withstand large amounts of water.

learn your lesson and keep the phone safer in future is my advice.

It looks like Google have really up the ante:

Processor: Qualcomm made 1.2GHz quad-core CPU
Screen: 4.5" 720p edge-to-edge display protected by Gorilla Glass
Cameras: 5-megapixel rear facing camera capable of 720p
recording with 1.3-megapixel front facing cam
Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, HSPA+ (but no 4G)
Storage: 8GB
OS: Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
Interchangeable back cover options

It also has a water repellent coating and 1GB of RAM.

The battery is 1950 mAh.

The price is meant to be around £135.

the part in bold makes me think otherwise

also someone on XDA recommended it which is why it's got me thinking it *may* actually be worth trying

People had a similar issue with the Sony Water resistant phones and afaik its excluded under the warranty. I don't know about the MotoG. You can but try.

water repellent coating does not equal waterproof phone.

you can buy a sofa with water repellent coating so that if you spill a drink on it, it just slips off or stays on the surface so can be easily soaked up by a paper towel, etc.

that doesn't mean if you throw the sofa in a swimming pool it will come out fine
