Power supply and case

Hey,

This is my first build in a couple years and I am struggling with choosing the power supply and case.

These are my current components:

Mobo: ReAct MSI Z87 SLI
CPU : i7-4770k @ 4.3ghz
Cooler: corsair hyrdo h80i high performance liquid cooler

The graphics card I will be getting will be a GTX780 ( not sure which exact one )

I will also be getting a small ( around 120gb ) ssd harddrive.

How much power will I need for this build? And what would be the best case to be able to comfortably hold the cooler etc. and that is quite quiet?

What is the budget as the suggestions could get stupid.

But a good 550W+ PSU is what you need.

As Stulid says, a quality 550w unit will be plenty. As for cases the Corsair 330 silent chassis is a capable case at a reasonable price

Corsair Obsidian or Define R4 for the case(not overly expensive or cheap) would be my choice, if you have the budget for it... (anything you save on case, put in a better PSU)..

So I just got all the components today, decided to test the mobo bundle before I put it in case.

When I try to boot, the mobo turns on for a second and immediately switches off. I have the board set up on it's outer cardboard box.

This is the PSU I am using: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-SF

I have tried only 1 stick of RAM, tried both in each slots individually.
Tried clearing cmos.

Tried booting both by connecting the power switch to the header and also directly shorting the power header. Both results in the same turn on/off of the mobo.

There also doesn't seem to be a system speaker that came with the motherboard..like wtf?

I've already posted a thread in the support forums etc. but I thought it may be useful to post here aswell.

I was planning to do the paperclip test thing to test the PSU. I won't be able to get any clips until tomorrow, but do you think I would be able to use tinfoil to do the same thing?
