David Moyes disgracefully sacked

I don't think he's the man to take the club forward but I don't see the point in doing this now - may as well give him the last few games to work an utter miracle.

I expected him to last longer than this though, glad to see the club do still have the bottle to make this kind of decision if true.

At least give the guy a chance to bring in some new faces in the summer and see how next season pans out.

I'm assuming you are rival supporter.
But in the history of modern football no manager has taken a team from 1st to 7th and stayed in a job. There is good reason for doing so. Moyes' Man Utd is gradually getting worse (their 2nd half of the season was worse than the 1st). All the statistics state that this guy is a liability.

The Glazers would have to be considered bad businessmen to even think about giving Moyes £150M+.

A top manager will make the existing players play better. We have a top squad which finished 11 pts ahead of the 2nd best team, last year. By definition, this is a top squad. The problem is that Moyes has reduced their confidence to a point where RVP and Rooney who were last year's star players, into players who many fans want us to sell.

I assure you, under a good manager, RVP, Roony, Mata and Januzaj will be a World class attacking unit. The manager is the root of the problem.

I'd like to see 2 big signings in the Summer. This should be enough to see us compete for 1st place in the league next year.

It's easier to change 1 manager than 11+ players, I'm afraid!

I think bringing in 3 or 4 new faces would do the trick.

It's easy to say that sitting on the sidelines however can you honestly say you would trust Moyes to spend 200million?

I think the main reason for this isn't necessarily the league position. All season long Utd have looked poor tactically with little progress being made. Worse then that have you seen his interviews?

At half time 0-2 against Everton the other day he actually said "I think we have controlled the game so far", Utd had no shots on target in that first half. Game after game he makes excuses.

Valid point. But as an Everton supporter I questioned a lot of his signings and ended up with egg on my face.

He has a good nose for sniffing out talent.

Is this one of those situations where they'll have to pay him off even though he has done a **** job ? :p

Maybe, but given he seems clueless tactically that's still risking it.

He doesn't need to sniff out talent here though, he can just buy proven talent (as well as getting some promising young/cheap players in). Of course saving money is a bonus. Then you have to consider he spent the best part of £30m on Fellaini! :(

What donut gave him a 6 year contract?

There will be clauses in it, now we're mathematically out of the Champions League, that might be one such clause...

Major trophy with smaller clubs? Remind me which one BR won?

The Championship Play Off to get Swansea to the Premiership, the first Welsh club ever to do so.

Considering the massive financial boost for doing so and the fact that they're still there a few years later, I've no problems in stating that in real terms it is a major trophy, it's still a Wembley final with a huge reward at stake.

.

I expect so. 6 year contract.

Ed Woodward or one of the Glazers I reckon.

Hopefully there's a get out clause for Year 1 of the contract, or as discussed a bit earlier, a get out clause reducing the payments if we fail to qualify for Champions League at some point within first 3 years of his contract or something. If we really do have to pay up Moyes, Round and Neville's wages for a full 6 years because no-one put in a get out clause to protect the club, then it just shows that either Woodward or the Glazers have no idea.

He has a good nose for sniffing out talent.

Talent for 1.5-3m he was brilliant. Spending more than that he was terrible in the main. He ruined strikers, isolated them and crushed them. If he wasn't the buyer the money he paid for fellaini was a joke to everton, let alone to manu.

I expected him to last longer than this though, glad to see the club do still have the bottle to make this kind of decision if true.

I didn't. I said time and time again that sadly he would be the cheap fall guy as no one would want to replace Fergie. Now whoever comes in looks decent. I feel for him, I like the guy but he was in a job with no pressure for far too long.

Unlike some Everton fans I will be forever grateful for the work he did and after seeing him running for a car away from goodison even more grateful for his work away from everton ;):p

A play off final isn't a major trophy. Its like coming third in the world cup. The best of the losers. Actually it's not even as major as third in the world cup :D

There'll poach Mourinho with a Massive cash offer & a Huge Transfer buying Budget & a 10 year contract. :D

Remember, You read it here first. :p

Don't get me wrong danny, I like him too. I wanted him to succeed and I would have appointed him a year ago as well with the expectation that he would make the step up to managing United (no disrespect meant, but like you said the pressure and expectations are totally different).

When he was first appointed I was stunned that we were getting a manager who had never won anything. I truly believed that Mourinho was a done deal and in the next 3 years we would do the treble.

10 months on and Moyes has shown that he indeed, cannot win a trophy.

Bit naughty that they've leaked this to the press before announcing it on the stock exchange.

Will likely be formally announced this evening after the NYSE has closed.

I wonder if he had a clause that kicked in after 4th became a mathematical impossibility.
