David Moyes disgracefully sacked

I don't hate him either.

That article is from this morning, Pep was asked since and denied any interest. I think he could be a great appointment but I don't think there's any way we'll get him unless the Bayern board want him out.

They could do far worse than someone like Pinocchio. Done a very good job at Southampton and could get players like Shaw and Lallana to follow.

Way too big of a risk.

Would utd fans want pep over klopp out of curiosity? I mean it's not looking likely you'll get either but if you could? I ask as whilst pep is amazing i think klopp would be exactly what utd need

I want Klopp over anyone else by some distance.

Would be a bigger risk than Moyes tbh. Although I do accept Pocchetino has done a very good job down at Southampton. But the step up would be massive, absolutely huge! United require an elite level manager with a proven track record at the highest level, both domestically and in Europe.

pretty disgusted at BBC whoring the media on United. Its surely against their remit as its like then favouring a brand seeing as United are floated in the stock market. It really is an unusual amount of attention they gave SAF quitting and then everything leadership related.

That's a scary idea. I hope they've been stung enough by Moyes to not go for somebody unproven at the highest level but he's the sort of guy they should have looked at before Moyes.

Van Gaal is the obvious one but it has the potential to go spectacularly wrong. As I said earlier, it's a huge decision this time around and they can't afford to get it wrong.

Moyes thought he'd get another transfer windows and he found out on social websites he's being sacked, harsh tbh.

We can just sack managers like Chelsea now. Although we wouldn't sack managers who actually won us something.

What do you mean? That sacking him ~later~ makes it cheaper?

Cheap as in the thought of getting this guy onboard… "If he done that with Everton, imagine what he could do with us." Thinking back to this time last year after seeing this today. Even though it didn't work.

I have no idea what managers wages are but you know how we live in this obsessed profit based world now. We don't care about skill/experience as long as it brings profit. A lot of that will be lost next year as well since no Champions League.

I personally did not expect Moyes to make the start of next season. After this season I just did not think that Manchester United would put up with such an utterly terrible season.

Moyes was taking the club backwards at an alarming rate, making very basic mistakes and did not look like he understood the status of the club he was at, Manchester United see themselves (as do fans and other people in football) at the top of the English pyramid of teams and as an elite team in Europe. Moyes, at least I thought, did not seem to 'get this' (the beach in Australia being a good example).

I think for the board though, the final nail in the coffin was the lack of European Champions league finish. I would have thought that a top four finish would have been the absolute minimum expectation (if ignoring the inept performances and inept management and coaching) and I, think, the club would have had a clause that allowed them to remove him as manager was this expectation not met.

I'm loving all the retrospective criticism from the journalists who once used the same incidents to praise Moyes.

At, first he was "down to Earth" and not unnecessarily cocky like Mourinho. Now, he lacked ambitions and was obviously over-awed by the United Job.

Likewise, when he replaced the backroom staff with his own it was a 'strong' decision and a good thing to bring in his 'own men'. Now though it is a stupid decision that shows naivety.

Was thinking it might have been a legal thing as to why they didnt want to sack Moyes before it was mathmatically impossible to get CL football - at the end of the day its still a business and paying out an extra £20m - as he got a one year pay off anyway - over a few weeks (when nothing would change) is stupid.

Does not stop them planning for the change before the announcement came.

Harsh but true.

Whether it was right or wrong to give him a 6 year contract in the first place is another thing, but imo as long as the right clauses are in place it makes no difference to the length as proven yesterday. £5m pay off would have been payed out for other reasons Im sure (his silence about a whole number of things at the top of the list no doubt)

Puts this here as its as good as anywhere - wonders what people think about players leaking team formations

Personally , no matter who is in charge (or not) , surely whatever club has to come down VERY Hard on any leaked info (but its an internal thing, nothing the FA or Premier League to do though).
