hey,

Looking at putting a new PC together within the next month or so, Will be using a EVGA 780 just a single card to start with then maybe get 2nd one in 3-4 months. Will a Corsair Professional Series AX 760 be enough to power them ?

Rest of PC will be i7, 250GB SSD, 2x 3TB, several fans.

Also as 4K monitors seem to be dropping to a more reasonable price point, will 780 SLi be adequate for 4K Gaming ?

Thanks

might be pushing it a little, whilst I dont know for sure, I generally reckon 850w is the kinda safe wattage I would go for personally, for multi card setups.

Waiting for the new i7, Was told the refresh ones are coming out next month. Will be whatever i can get for around £250.

I think ill just go for a 1000w just to future proof myself.

You think 2x 780 will be enough for decent FPS on 4k gaming ?

I run heaven bench with two 780's overclocked and a 4770k also overclocked and it maxed at 530W so I'd say your 760w would cope, personally I like lots of headroom and would rather use a 850w+ although not absolutely necessary but nice, you never know when you might need that little extra. Better to have too much than not enough. 4K with 780's I think would not be able to max games, you'd have to turn a lot down to run at acceptable frame rates 3GB vram being a problem so I hear as I have no experience with 4K.
I went mad overkill and got a AX1200i but only because I was contemplating on new mobo and going three way sli.

Thanks for that spank :) been debating adding another 780 myself or waiting until next year and building a whole new rig as i wondered if my tx 850 would struggle
Since it seems newer cards are a wee way off for either camp think i'll just go sli for awhile

Your welcome. hope you enjoy your 780's, just watch those fps go through the roof. ;)

Yeah will go for something 1000W + i think. Want to try and future proof as much as possible and the way 4K prices are going i'm guessing it won't be long before its a reality.

Good, but always best to have lots of head roon. With SLI any 780 or higher should be 1000 watts or higher depending on GPU.

Plenty of headroom there especially with a platinum rated PSU, he's running the TI's overclocked as well so the AX 760 is more than enough. GPU's from now on are only going to get more power efficient so splashing out on a monster PSU is really not necessary when looking at future upgrades.

AX 760 is going to running near max. When oc'ing cpu , gpu and others things....a 200watt head room is best. Like I said 1000watts would be not only quieter, but also have the room for years to come. ax760 wont cut it. Like you said it will run both at sli, but for how long?

I'm in a similar situation I have a Gainward GLH Phantom GTX780 and depending on what the ROG Swift monitor needs may need to get another GTX780 but only have a Corsair TX750M PSU. Mind you as my card is so wide I'm not even certain that there will be room to fit another card. So later on I may be asking what is the slimmest GTX780 card available?

the 1000w one is only £20 more i think, Am i not better off getting that just to be on the safe side? I might upgrade to 780ti one day :)
