I'm back baby!
It's very nice to drive, and I'm enjoying it being RWD in this weather - though winter and the hills I live around may prove interesting. The nav, radio, MP3 device, onboard HDD, etc. are all very easy to use and to navigate around. It's very comfortable, and eats up miles even better than the Highline Passat I gave back in return for the new one - which I was very sad to see go.

You'll be please to know I have now removed the blue seat cover, and sorted out the front garden :D

Is that the AMG E class? My colleague had one for a month and then swapped it for an ML350 AMG. Nothing wrong with it as such he just got fed up with a few niggles like the EML coming on and he wished he'd got it in white. IIRC it has a 3ltr turbo (derv), nothing happened when you put a foot down and then a second or two later it kicked in. Auto box was very very smooth, same engine in the ML350 but obviously it's a lot heavier.

It's the E220 CDI I went for. The best that came in under the 120G/kg CO2.

E Class, but not AMG. BIK is insane for anything like that.

When I say AMG I don't mean like the 70k one I think it's AMG body or something and a remap? Either way, it was super comfy and driving an auto was a lot better than I expected :)
I'm sure it's a very comfortable drive to work.

Enjoy the taxi. Eating miles is what it was made for :)

WRT the winter - just buy a set of winter tyres

Buy? What is this buy of which you speak?

I'll just get the company to sort it :D

Never driven RWD in the snow and ice, that's all. Never had winter tyres either.

is it an auto? my colleague has one and its all a bit bland and uninteresting. his is manual which makes it even worse. stop/start thing would annoy the crap outa me.

Yes, it is auto, and it does have stop/start which is just about seamless and although it's the first time I've had it, it's not a problem for me. It's also very easy to disengage (there's an 'ECO' button on the centre console. Push it, and you are stop/start free).

It's auto but has tiptronic paddles on the steering wheel that disangages the auto shift until you go past the redline (in theory, I of course have not done this in this vehicle provided for work by work).

I had a C220 cdi for about 5 weeks and it wasnt bad. I imagine its similar to these.

I had hoped to be more impressed by it, because I love Mercs and it was a nice courtesy car, but it was pretty bland. Although admittedly it was base level trim, no leather or anything.

Nice car overall though, not sure I would buy one new (if of course its anything like its littler brother.)

It's fine - I've done it on the continent many many times, and never had any issues. :)

Enjoy the new ride. :)

Congrats, I do like the facelift W212s, not too drastic but brings it a little more in line with the new C and S.

Drove my Merc 320 CLK in snow on Summer UHP tyres with no issue. The traction control ESP was very good, even going up a long hill.

Nice car, I prefer the E class to the 5 series, it just feels more premium to me, even if the BMW is probably the better drivers car.
