just got a letter from the dole with the above title.
the job centre want to see me next week.

I am currently on job seekers allowance.

my circumstances havent changed.

I'm not working on the side.

I have a mental health condition (depression and anxiety)
so i have been throwing up all morning woryying about this letter.

looked online and most people say it's either a spot check or someone has
suggested i may be working whilst claiming (i'm not).

anyone else had a letter like this?

thanks for any help.

I think they would realy have to provide proof you are working.....since u are not there will be no problem.

Have you been actively using there job website ok

Make sure your jobs search thingy is up to date.

What more is there....nothing

I work for the DWP and can confirm that these are quite common, and there are three potential reasons why

1. As stated, someone has suggested you could be working whilst claiming
2. The 'Matching' system identified that you hold capital / income not declared
3. Spot check

There are a lot of things that can have an effect on claims, non dependants depending on what premiums you may receive, capital, income et al

I wouldn't worry if you have nothing to hide - and even if they DID find something and you had been overpaid, it wouldn't be a criminal matter - that is dealt with by FIS (Fraud Investigation Service) not compliance.

Just to add, I would very much advise you contact the CAB if you are uneasy about the situation, they are very helpful.

Try not to worry, as much as your condition will allow you to, if you have nothing to hide you should be fine..

With regards the anxiety thing, I have had it and when it sets hold it can be hell. I used to spend hours in the bath willing my body to calm down. I found a product called Forza 5htp made all the difference and pretty much cured me not had an episode for years.

thank you all for helping and answering.

my job search and logging of applying for jobs is all up to date etc.

I have applied for over 230 jobs this year, never missed a job centre
appointment blah blah.

thanks to the chap who works for DWP replying also, appreciated.

PS- I don't smoke, drink or do illegal drugs.
no wonder i ended up a basket case lol.

thanks again.

cheese buddy i will look into that Forza 5htp.

i thought u was giving me info on forza motorsport to cheer me up at first lol.

I had one of these, but I did goof up. I had done a days paid work trial and forget to declare it. I had to repay the 80 quid over 8 weeks and that was that.

Haha yeah. Bloke was sound though. He had to mention the days work trial before I even remembered it. That was some years ago now. I wouldnt get out of bed for 80 quid these days :D How times change. I now make in a week what I use to make in 3 months :D

Just an update seens as people had replied previously..

the short version:

HMRC are linked to the dole office and it had flagged up i had over £6k savings
BUT 12months previous to me making a claim but it had flagged it anyway.

as my bank accounts prove i havent had any savings for over 12months so
it was all cleared up there and then.

thanks for the replies.

Have to laugh to keep from crying.

"So you want to claim job seekers allowance... Did you blow all of your income on drinking, smoking and going on holiday?"

Person #1: "Yes, all gone. I had a great time, thanks."

"Splendid! Here is your money, sir. Next!"

Person #2: "No, I was sensible and/or worked long hours to make extra money so I didn't have time for holidays and many social occasions"

"Well you get nothing. You should have spent it all like the chav in the queue behind you. Next!"

A little OT, but the OP may need to be wary of 5htp if used in combination with certain anti-depressants (I see the OP noted he has depression).

If in doubt, check with your GP.

That is quite an assumption you're making.

Fairly accurate though. If you have any kind of savings they won't do anything for you. They make you live off them till you are broke and then they will help you and expect you to see it as a favour for having the gall to be out of work in the first place. :)

Just saying.
