Lloyds: No overdraft fees for muslims

If you want an Islamic account then just open an Islamic account... they're not going to stop you just because you haven't grown a big beard and come in dressed in your pajamas.

I really don't see the issue - we've got big subsets of sky pixie worshiping ****tards in the UK, businesses want to cater for them and take their money, if they can do so by pandering to their silly beliefs then why not.

Its a big fudge... apparently if you're really devout and absolutely can't pay interest you can use a few loop holes to get around Allah's laws by still paying for your loan without calling it interest... seemingly a few crafty bankers are able to run rings around Allah and he's supposedly non the wiser.
 
They should not allow Islamic account holders to go into the red if Muslim's don't want to pay fees and interest, waivering the charges on Islamic accounts is grossly unfair to all other account holders.

no it isn't, lots of different accounts have different terms and conditions, different benefits and drawbacks.... it would be unfair of them to do this if they only let Muslims open Islamic accounts but they don't - anyone can open an Islamic account... its just another bank account - if someone thinks they will benefit more from it in some way they should open one instead of the account they currently have.

It's got nothing to do with Allah, he doesn't care about money. That bit in the Islamic faith is all a fudge. As Jesus said, "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."

If you read their charges guide the Islamic Account is the same as the basic Cash Account, except that according to the Telegraph Islamic account holders have received a letter saying that the fees will be removed. How is that not discriminatory? would Muslim's register for a Christian bank account to stop themselves being robbed? nope, they would just cry discrimination and rightly so.
 
A business has found a new way to make money by targeting a certain group of people. There isn't a problem with that. That's what businesses are about, money. I don't see the point of people getting angry at their computer screens over something like this. If it doesn't affect you then just move on and find something better to do.
 
What us even more shocking is those pesky student back accounts! How dar they bring in student laws. What is it going to be like in 10 years, restaurants that only sell vegetarian food?

It's always nice when someone says business are about making money like it's something they just learned in their first semester at the local college.

Anyway, discrimination isn't that bad really. Just ignore it and it'll go away. That's how it works.

Hows is it discriminatory? Anyone can apply for the account.

Are vegetarian meals discriminatory against people who eat meat? Creating a product to cater for the beliefs/ethics of a group isn't discriminatory - anyone can freely chose to purchase the product whether they fall within that group or not.

Pointless analogy.

Being vegetarian isn't a protected characteristic when it comes to the law.
