Google-Motorola "X Phone" in the 2013 pipeline?

Maybe multiple suppliers?

I have a mate with a iphone 5 at work..will check his black performance next time.

Nexus - great black levels add to the overall depth of display quality - it's like an IQ foundation.

Might also have something to do with the fact there's text at the top of the screen, which doesn't really make it a fair test either.

why not? shouldn't make any difference.

I thought as it's LCD it might? Wouldn't on AMOLED obviously.

Anyway, I've just done a full black screen on my 5s and it's not that far off the picture really, but definitely not as bad. It's not something I've ever tried before! Screen is an excellent one though, for me at least, just wish it was bigger.

It wouldn't if you compaed it to a better display :p

DVD quality used to look great remember? Now go back to that after you've tried/become used to 1080p or morso 4K :p

TBF, most monitor screen tech. is terrible for black levels, only VA (I think that is them) and OLED (although rare and cost a fortune) are good for black levels.

My point was...we don't have the choice in monitors but we do on phones :p

If there was an OLED monitor an the same price as my LCD one...I sure as hell wouldn't go LCD.

And I've just bought a new TV... 46F8000 Samsung. Now I have to deal with it being LCD because Plasma is not available anymore and OLED is $$$.

Ordered a 16GB Moto X last night for £270

I'm now in the process of selling both my Note 3 & Moto G.

My first intention was just to sell the Note 3 & stick with the Moto G as i use this phone a lot more than the Note 3 and love it mainly because the Note 3 was to big, then i thought i could get the Moto X which is similar size to the Moto G and has much better specs plus still have 4G, and a half decent camera aswell.

As i don't game, or watch movies and only have around 3GB worth of selected mp3's, I find 16GB is more than enough for me.

Selling both these phones will pay for the Moto X plus put some extra money into my pocket, just need to find a way now to cut my sim down to nano size without damaging it.

Like last year, why aren't they using the latest Snapdragon? Are they buying up older, cheaper chips in bulk or something?

Maybe to keep the cost low. But tbh, S800 is a great base chip. I wouldn't be happy with anything less now. 801 and above would be nice but if the rest of the phone was great it wouldn't put me off buying the phone.

I hope this is a Verizon phone - they were slightly larger last year also.

I don't care about the S800 either, the X is already faster than many phones with that processor. All I really want is better battery life, improved camera and more of the same type of software additions (and refinement of the existing ones).

Widespread availability and reasonable price please too. Hopefully Lenovo kick some sense into them and they don't screw it up again.

Good choice.

Although you may not watch movies on it I got to say using Youtube on the Moto X rocks. Full screen with narrow bezel and amoled screen ..... I can't help but think Nexus has made the wrong choice ;)

I'd still be happier with with a 32gig model but it's not a major issue. I've bought a very small 32gb Kingston Micro USB OTG stick. It has a USB plug one side and micro usb the other and is hardly 2cm long. Put large media file on it and plug into phone when required. Seems to work great

One thing I liked about the HTC One I had was Blinkfeed. The newer version seems better than the one I used to use. How do I know, well got it working on my Moto X. Started by using the Blinkfeed Launcher (install 4 apps to make it work - no rooting required) but although blinkfeed is fine I wasn't much impressed with the launcher bit compared to Nova. Got round that by cutting Blinkfeed launcher down to just the homescreen with blinkfeed on then switch back to Nova. In Nova go to create a Shortcut then Nova Activities then HTC Blinkfeed from the list. Select the entry that says 'launcher' and you've created a shortcut that loads the single home page blinkfeed. To go back to Nova simply press the home button. Blinkfeed and Nova, job done.

All this is from XDA of course and details in the link below (before anyone asks - though expect no one has any interest in ruining a perfecttly good Moto X with HTC software  )
