What's the best budget phone these days? for like £200 or so?

It's replacing an orange monte carlo so doesn't have to be anything special as long as it has android

Moto G, £105 from Tesco Direct then £2 for an unlock code from the bay. Sorted.

lack of external memory slot would kill it if my current phone didn't have only 2gb + 2gb card :p

Looks good though and well under budget!

anyone else got any other suggestions?

Actually never mind alternative suggestions!

Ordered a moto G and will pick it up from tesco on Monday after 4pm :D

Thank you for making my decision an easy one Rabtech and Orcvader

After reading the first post was going to say Moto G from Vodafone for £100 + £2 eBay unlock code. I got two last week for my niece and nephew.

Glad to see you got one already.

Yes the Alcatel One Touch Idol S, £109.99 if bought in store but I called them up and amazingly got offered it for just £90.99 including free delivery by UKMail and they are an amazing delivery company, you can change the day its delivered easily online.

Can't believe nobody mentioned it, it has a Micro SD slot, 4G which the Moto G doesn't and a bigger 4.7` screen which is even better than the Moto G's I should know as i own both of them, like I said in another thread the Alcatel One Touch Idol S is criminally underrated, nobody hardly mentions it.

Bought my kid an Idol s, he broke his Note screen, as a stopgap phone but he loves it and wants to keep it, he loves it's lightness and sleek screen so much he no longer wants a Note 3 and is happy to wait till this time next year to get a Note 4, i'm thinking of buying one for my spare phone as my current spare is an Ace with a smashed screen.

picked my moto G up earlier and unlocked it with one of those £2 codes :)

Will look into rooting it later to get rid of some of the crap apps I don't need

Exactly so if you do it later you'll have to set it up all over again.

I meant later as in later on today when I can be bothered.

anyway wasn't much to set up.

turn on phone
select English
google sync
motorola migrate

>5 minutes later done

unlike when my ex bought a new iphone.... what a pain in the ass and long winded process upgrading from one iphone to the other is using itunes.....

Not sure what apps you mean, it's pretty much vanilla Android. Moto assist/migrate etc are the only ones apart from the standard Google apps that come preinstalled, and they're pretty useful.

After having had a couple of budget Android phones, namely the HTC explorer and the Huawei ascend y300, both of which felt like a budget phone, the Moto G doesn't - Motorola must be making a loss on these, just don't know how they are doing it for the price!

I wouldn't bother rooting, as TallPaul_S says the bloatware is at a minimum and I wouldn't want to invalidate the warranty.
