!MUSLIM SAMWICH ARMYGEDDON!

Religion trampling the values of secular people again. Wow. I never saw that coming. I always check the packaging of my food before I buy it. Halal products have little symbols on them, if I see them, I just put the food back on the shelf.
Out of interest, why?

If you follow OP's link you will see that Subway stress that their halal meat is stunned before slaughter.

Well that's not Halal strictly speaking.

The food must come from a supplier that uses halal practices. Specifically, the slaughter must be performed by a Muslim, who must precede the slaughter by invoking the name of Allah, most commonly by saying "Bismillah" ("In the name of God") and then three times "Allahu akbar" (God is the greatest). Then, the animal must be slaughtered with a sharp knife by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck (while the animal is conscious), causing the animal’s death without cutting the spinal cord. Lastly, the blood from the veins must be drained.

It matters how it was killed to me.

I understand the concern for how the animals are killed and I too do not buy Halal meat for this reason but note that
the majority of halal abattoirs stun the animals before killing them
this is in the DM article.

Yes, it would be good to know if the animal was stunned or not beforehand but until they do mention that I for one would not buy Halal meat.

Anyway, how many of you on this thread eat kebabs or fried chicken, you do realise they are made from Halal meat? (sometimes horse)

I keep getting told muslims are a minority and less than 5 % of our population. So how come any business cares?

Either the figures are totally wrong or they are vocally militant in their religion and not what we need or want in this country.

There are "more than 1700" subway restaurants in the UK & Ireland, so the 185 Halal-only branches is around 11%. Given that most non-muslims demonstrably don't really notice whether their food is Halal, Kosher, Free-range, or Horse, it's probably a reasonable business move to cater a little more for your customers who do care about such things.

Subway food all smells the same anyway (a bit rank after a while if you live or work near a branch). Don't see the appeal myself. Rather go to Roosters.

So it isn't really Halal as they're not totally conscious.

Most moderate Muslims (and most Muslims are moderate, despite the bad press) will accept stunned meat as qualifying as Halal, if the other tenets of the slaughter are correctly adhered to.

This - if the animals are not stunned, it's a barbaric practice. I won't touch anything labelled Halal if I can help it tbh because you have no idea whether it's "fake halal" or not. Apparently 88% is stunned - not good enough tbh.

Not really news to me!!

There are two Subways in Swindon Town Center, the on at the Top (near the Town Hall) has been 'Halal' ever since I've known (stickers in the windows) and it says on the menu board that it's Turkey Bacon! The Subway dow the Bottom of Town (near Wilko) is still a Proper 'Pork Lovers' paradise!!

They've just opened a new one in Stratton too!, I don't know weather this one is Halal as I've not tried it yet! :)

I have no qualms about how Halal meat is butchered!, it's up to them! Still tastes nice!!

Makes no odds to me anyway as I mainly have the 'Sweet Onion Chicken Teriaki' on a 'Foot Long Honey Oat" Nomnomnom...

My problem is I reckon you're just full of nonsense looking to get ****ed off about nothing.

Give us your views on meat if you're such an activist.

I don't know what your problem with me is but I'm not responding to anymore of your vile babbling. Why the hell should I ? You basically just decided I was a liar for no reason and if that's your attitude toward me, I have nothing more to say to you.

Yesterday's lunch that was!

I don't get the problem aimed at Sliver either. Am I boring because I read item labels too? Oh dear, boring me. Oh look, Sodium Laureth Sulphate in my shower gel.

I don't have a problem with Muslims or businesses catering for them but I just don't see what the problem is here...

If the Muslims don't want to eat pork or ham then... Don't order the pork or ham...

I just don't...

Edit: OOOHHHHHH

Muslims wouldn't taste the bacon that is available to other members of the public wheb they tuck into their chicken butty either.

doesn't stop them from being retarded about it...I've seen muslims order from non halal subway they just ask them to change gloves ...
