Well done. You've compared apples to oranges. Congrats on the fallacy. The Church Of England for all it's faults, and it has many, is very benign regarding it's impact on UK society when compared to even moderate Islam.

Oh, so it's OK to have an intrusion of religious superstitious nonsense into UK society if the intrusion is very benign.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Your putting words in my mouth. I never said that. I'm against all forms of religion no matter how benign. If it was up to me, everyone in the world would be an atheist.

Not so much/easy for your Great Grandad though. :D

My paternal great grandfather was English and never lived in Australia. The same was true of my paternal grandfather. My father was English and emigrated here. My maternal grandfather was also English and also emigrated here. I'm a British citizen with no convict ancestry.

What was your point again?

:)

It is our country and like it or not is a Christian country.

What they do in Iran/Saudi is their business but has no business here.

Trey pedalling your beliefs there ands see how long you last.

Am I reading this right and the stores in question are going to stop offering pork/bacon for all customers?

Seems a bit pathetic to me if so, why can't Muslims just... order something without those meats in it?

It's fair to say that most people in the UK are not seriously religious. We are quite a secular nation. So I find it annoying when ANY religion tries to impose it's self in ANY way on our society.

I'll be honest, I find it much more annoying having to wait until 10/11am to go to the garden centre on a Sunday than I do walking into a Subway to find it's a Halal one. Thanks Christians - now it's raining and I can't build my new barbeque

Oh look, another GD thread full of thinly-veiled racism and ignorance. Haven't had one of these in a while! ¬_¬

How is this even an issue? A minority of outlets start selling halal food, a business decision made by subway to get them more sales. Seems like a pretty smart move to me, good on them.
You don't want it? Well guess what, they even marked up the shops for you so you don't have to risk coming into contact with someone from another religion, god forbid.
liek someone said previously, mountains out of molehills for sure.

So you're saying Britain is a religious nation and should be just as intolerant as Iran and Saudi Arabia?

Since when is islam a race?

Keep practicing your reverse racism.

Subway stores that serve Halal meat serve a turkey based alternative to pork. That's because it's difficult and time consuming to make sure the meat doesn't get contaminated.

Possibility of contamination if the meat is kept next to each other, prepared in the same area and prepared by people wearing the same gloves......

185 too many then. What's next ? Halal McDonalds ? Halal Burger King ?

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Munching a Subway is not a basic human right. Go somewhere that serves non-halal food.

I am against halal slaughter, but, realistically, the best way to deal with it is to make it unprofitable.

But it's the logical conclusion of what you said.

You'll need to explain your logic then because actually it isn't. You're just assuming something and then trying to assert it as fact. This is known as the argument from ignorance. Another common fallacy.
