Christmas has evolved, I understand that we all need to have a break sometime. Even if religion dies out completely, I still think Christmas will be there. Rename it if you will to Official World holiday day :) That would be better.

Did you enjoy your 4 day weekend a few weeks back?

Tasty pancakes on pancake day?

How about that double time pay you get for working Sundays?

Even though I'm not religious, I do quite like the traditional "feel" of Christmas... better to give than to receive and all that. It's also nice to see generosity and goodwill at that time of year. People are generally much more relaxed.

Making it a "general holiday" would spoil it IMO whether you're religious or not.

Don't do pancakes. Easter Sunday + Monday, I would rather this be spread over the hourly rate for the year. I feel for employers there.

So you worked Easter Friday and Monday then? Or do you just want the arbitrary pay increase on those days for reasons you don't believe we should conform to too be added to you anual salary regardless?

Holding onto the magic are you? How old are you if you don't mind me asking.

Oh come on... You don't enjoy seeing the smiles on the kids' faces come Christmas morning? If not, what a sad, lonely life you must lead. Sometimes a little "magic" as you call it is a nice break from the usual routine in all honesty.

I'm mid 30s but I don't see how that's relevant. I just enjoy the festive cheer and the excuse to be with people I care about.

So you got double pay for working a religious holiday you don't think we should conform too? Isn't that, to use your words, somewhat backwards?

As I said, sounds to me like your perfectly happy to conform to religious traditions if it benefits you.

I don't have kids. Christmas was magical when I was young and I have happy memories back then. I would tell the Santa story if I had any, Santa would let there imaginations run wild for a little bit until they learn about the actual unmagical realistic dog eat dog world we live in.

I don't have kids either but I have nieces and nephews. I love the atmosphere round the local at Christmas as well and always have a great time inviting people over mine for dinner, crap TV and drinks.

Cheer up mate.

I have no choice what I get paid. As I said I would happily give up double pay for Easter. Christmas is not a religious tradition for me. I see it as a holiday break, which most people see it as. I doubt the vast majority have one Jesus thought going through their heads on Christmas day.

You have no choice over whether a Subway sells ham either.

But you are happy to adhere to the one that benefits you/isn't Muslim, yet have a massive issue with the one that doesn't benefit you/is Muslim (delete as appropriate).

So your either selfish, racist, or simply stuck trying to defend a misjudged statement that doesn't actually reflect your true opinion.
