Which specific atrocities are you thinking of? Do you have some specific events in mind?
You could discuss the following:
Emperer Karl Charlemagne's slaughter of Saxons in 782
Steding/Altenesch massacre in 1234
Battle of Belgrade 1456
16th and 17th century killing of Irish Gaels
Semlin and Weiselberg crusade campaigns in Hungary in 1096
Crusades in Turkey: Xerigordon 1096, Antioch 1098
Crusaders in Jerusalem 1099
Crusaders in Askalon 1099
The European Inquisitions against, eg. Cathars in France (Carcasonne/Languedoc 1209-1229) etc.
Catholics vs Protestants & Hussites (15th - 17th century)
More recently there were the Spanish in South America and Settlers in North America, both against native peoples.
Also up for discussion: Bosnian Muslims in the 1990s
I am very careful to offer them up for discussion. They are all discussed at length by scholars of history. Of course, in these discussions most people are arguing from an existing position and many struggle to be impartial. (Is it ever possible to be truly impartial ?)
