living between M'chester & Stoke

Will you be commuting to Manchester by train or car? Personally I'd prefer to take the A34 to manchester at rush hour so would be looking at Knypersley. The in-laws live there and its a nice place to be.

I really wouldn't like to commute Stoke to Manchester.

I work a lot in Scotland and fridays are nightmares. Last 2 weeks over 2 hr delays J30-J16 (travelling through 4pm ish, so probably worse at rush hour)

I would look just outside of Crewe to be honest, the likes of Weston, Betley, Shavington are all pretty affluent area's. They are all 10 minutes from Crewe station but far enough out of the **** hole.

It's also close to Stoke, 15 minutes from J16 / A500 in the morning, or alternatively your mrs can go the back route through Betley and Madeley Heath which brings you into Newcastle.

I'm moving to Wytchwood Park next weekend if you want to be my neighbor lol.

Is Kidsgrove nice?

Looking on rightmove and some of the houses for sale look good.

Only an hour on the train to Manchester

Yes and no, like most places some areas are better than others. The older part near Clough Hall is quite nice. The other side of the A50, Whitehill and the Rookery have a sprawling council estate that's not so good. What's left of Kidsgrove town centre is pretty low rent and run down now.

Thinking outside the box, you can get a train from Blythe Bridge to Manchester Piccadilly in one hour and 10 minutes. For £150,000 you could get a decent 3 bed semi in that area. It is nice and quiet, the more central you get in Stoke, the ****er it gets basically.

You'd be right on the A50 and there is a B&Q / Tesco / Aldi 5 minutes away. You are a good 20 minute drive from the M6 though, in good traffic conditions. In a morning the A50 is gridlocked from Blythe to the Britannia Stadium so it would take 30 - 40 minutes to just get onto the M6 at rush hour.

Bus option to get around Stoke is a no go in my opinion, but there is another train station in Longton. Few options really.

Congleton is a pretty nice litte town. Even our equivalent of sink estates (Bromley Farm and parts of Buglawton) aren't really too bad.

Traffic is a bit of a pain - the town is planned terribly so there's only one road route from North to South, and from East to West, so it can take 15 minutes just to get out of the town and on to the road proper in rush hour. Train stations also has pretty limited service.

There's a planned link road to bypass us though, which should improve things. (But then again, there's a planned development of the town centre - and they only took down the sign saying "planned for completion in 2012" a few months back, not so much as broken earth so far!

How much you looking to spend, i know the housing market in Congleton very well at the moment.

Semper close is ok, but tbh i wouldn't really want to live up Buglawton.
