After shave balm

ALL razors? I assume you're talking about cartridge razors which are pretty rubbish and will produce the symptoms you've described. Get yourself into the Manly Shaving thread and pick up a DE (safety) razor. It'll take a little getting used to but with a little effort, all your problems will vanish.

I had a full beard for years and went straight to a DE razor with no problems at all.

Well "popular razors" I never looked up stuff that is seen in manly shavers thread... I shall look further into it :D

I've been using the Gilette 2-in-1 Intense Cooling Balm for a couple of years now and it works a treat. Calms the burning with tea-tree oil and also moisturises at the same time.

The scent also seems to drive the gf which is always a bonus ;)

I have found sudocream works wonders for that, any aftershave balms leave me to greasy and the next day I wake up with a spot or two!

Thin layer and keep rubbing shouldn't leave you're face looking like a face mask!

I also use Gillette and seem to have no problems, I find the battery operated ones which provides vibrations works wonders (no mucky jokes please!) to stop it snagging which I only have that issue slightly on a worn blade on mi tash!

Alum block then use an alcohol splash and moisturize after it's dried.

And wet shave, wet shaving is better! :D

Preferably with a DE or a straight/ shavette razor, and a badgers hair brush with sandalwood soap - best thing ever.

I wouldn't reccomend alum and aftershave on sensitive skin. A moisturising balm would be much better

If you want to stop your skin getting irritated in the first place, try shaving with the grain instead of against it. For me that's a downwards direction for all areas of face/neck except the base of neck where it's upwards.

Wet shaving is what you need.

this I tried using an electric razor might as well have used a BD sander...
:(

Saw a program few weeks ago where the guy said that very little of any moisturiser actually moisturised and he tested cheap to really expensive creams he said they were all useless but the best one for protection was nivea.

To actually moisturise he recommended petroleum jelly :D

modern razors are naff if you let stubble grow for more than a day... my face also gets mashed up if I try an electric razor

the cheap BIC razors do the job OK, I'd look at getting a proper old fashioned safety razor though... cost of the blades is much less and it works properly.

Get the brush and some decent shave soap too - prep with some shaving oil first too if you feel the need - somersets shave oil is good
