Karchers Pressure washers

I also have a K2. Agree with Howard, if you wash the car once a week the chances are you don't need a pressure washer. It does however use way less water than a normal hose. Which also means there is less water on the car during the drying process.

Search - Audi R8 Blackbird DRIVE CLEAN on YouTube. That guy has his own detailing business AMMO NYC, and is one of the most down to earth easy going person on YouTube. He doesn't push his products through the videos either.

If you look after any pressure it should last years.

there's years and theres years.

3 years or using it every weekend ? 3 years or using it once a month, 3 years of using it every day ?

The cheaper pressure washers like the £50 karcher ones are cheap for a reason - their innards are plastic and are always going to break sooner than the more expensive ones that use metal in their construction.

okay so far 2 years maybe bi monthly or so. Also gets used for other tasks as well as car cleaning.

Like I said above I have a K2, its more than adequate for home domestic use. £100 or so from B&Q, probably available elsewhere for £80.

I have a really small Karcher model, one of the older ones that's about the size of a handbag. Had it for years and it's still going strong.

I've had my Karcher 550M (not sure they even make it anymore) for 5 yrs and had another one that lasted about 5 yrs before that!

Had a snow foam lance for about 5-6 years and it gets used every weekend. Been through loads of different makes of snow foam...currently using Autofinesse Avalanche.

As has been pointed out previously, the foam will lift off most of the dirt but if you want a truly sparkling car then you do have to get the wash mitt out and wash it!

Looking at getting snowfoam lance but I'm only using a cheapy AA pressure washer, on reading however they appear to be rebranded Karchers.

Could anyone measure the lugs on their karcher connectors please?

Thanks

Is the K4 Eco a decent unit - not a bad price on the outlet?

I have the K4 Eco and cant rate it highly enough. I had a K2 Premium which broke, although I didn't realise you had to run the hose with the power turned on after the water feed was detached to remove left over water from the pump. The outlet didn't have any more to replace it with so gave me a refund and I stumped up a bit more for the K4 Eco.

Had loads of issues using my snow foam lance with the K2. It used to get blocked all the time with soap. Was having to take it apart and clean it after every couple of uses, and even then it was still quite milky compared to when new. I used to run the water through the lance until it ran clean, so not due to me using it incorrectly.

Since having the K4 Eco I haven't had to clean the lance once and gives excellent thick foam every single time.

I had a expensive Karscher which lasted about a year before it died. Replaced it with the Nilfisk C110 for £110 and its lasted me 2-3 years and still going strong. No doubt i will be sticking with Nilfisk.

I am in the process of buying again. I had a top of the range Karcher I bought a few years back and it last 3 years then went bang. I think it was £300'ish. I got one from my dad when he moved down south and that when pop the first time I tried to use it. Went to buy another yesterday, Karcher K4 was I wanted water cooled but they had run out at the Halfords I walked into. So now checking out options online.

Could you let me know if you come across anything of decent build which is also powerful enough for grimey patios and rejuvinating bricks etc. please :)

Sorry, I'm kind of coming in here all guns blazing after not really reading through the thread but I did have a quick search.

I've just bought a Karcher K4 with a load of bits from Ideal World; to be honest I've always intended on buying one from Ideal as they often have genuinely good deals on and have a great returns policy and also you can pay over 4 payments to spread out the cost of what is essentially a big toy; at least it helps justify something better ;) I just waited for a suitable deal to come up and then went for it. Although I can't vouch for it's longevity yet, it's been great so far and came with a load of toys. even the patio brush is excellent (the gucci hinged T-racer not the cheap fixed one) literally exceeded my expectations.

if you're interested I paid £219 for:
-Karcher K4 compact
-6m hose
-T250 patio brush
-car brush (lol, no ta)
-K4 vario lance
-K4 four-way lance
-Dirt blaster (fantastic!)
-extension tube
-3 bottles of detergent

I bought a snow lance off eBay from direct hoses iirc; after a bit of short but intense research I came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to pay twice the price plus postage from a detailing site when I can get it from eBay. (I do shop a lot at CYC but I would not pay their lance prices)

My next purchase is going to be a hose extension as my next house has a whole lotta' patio!

I've seen it mentioned already but the key to these things is care - don't leave it in freezing temps, don't leave it full of water, don't run it dry - it will last years - With that in mind surely brand is neither here nor there so just go for something with good specs and a good deal.

I have a Nilfisk E130 and its been fantastic. Paid ~200 a few years ago. Wash 3 cars with it weekly and do my drive way, bricks and pavements twice a year not to mention all the other uses. Just do not leave it outside to freeze and try using it!
