Nvidia Conspiracy Is Strong In This One

Based on this guys nonsense, a Titan Black would be able to simulate the entire observable universe in real-time.

Apparently not, when our friend turned up the settings in Metro he said a Titan would not be able to run it.

Must go and dump them useless NVidia cards of mine.:D

People once believed the sun revolve around the Sun, and when the truth is revealed, everyone called the scientist idiot, because this is against what they believe.

He has video's and they don't run anywhere near what he claims.

Maybe that's because I'm spoilt with 120 FPS/120HZ goodness (Although I'm now a peasant 60HZ 2560x1080 user)

It seems some still need to evolve, some people in here would have me and him burned at the stake.

It begs the question, are the incremental performance improvements we get architectural or software based, or a mixture of both?

This point has been argued for as long as the ATI vs NVIDIA war has been around.

Unfortunately, the videos in the OP don't bring any evidence to support claims either way. :D

He says "No slowdowns" And I'm pretty sure that medallion was swinging in 4 FPS.

It's running VERY slow, anyone can see that.

He may be getting SOME performance gain from driver optimisations (You know the ones INSIDE CCC etc?)

He needs to upload those drivers on a public server if they do what he says they do.

People will always look for faults and bang that drum ignoring everything else if they don't like what they see.

If Nvidia are using Drivers to hold back performance on GPU's you can bet your life AMD do it just as much.

I don't think either AMD or NV have been deliberately holding back performance in the drivers but they have both been a bit lazy over the years in getting the best out of low/midrange hardware. Mantle and 337.5 both prove this point but even taking into account the extra performance these drivers can bring it is still no where near what our friend is claiming.

there is one here

Ran on a single Titan with the CPU and Titan at stock clock 8XMSAA and everything else set to max (Including high PhysX). I would expect a 780 to get at least 80 fps.

Have you actually looked at his "smooth" gameplay?

Seriously, I'm looking at his GTS450 Witcher 2, it's TERRIBLE.

What he need to do is run 3dmark11 and post the link, simple.

Well the guy who ran that test must be lying too then, everyone lies, fine.

You can clearly see it is a slideshow when the guy enters the room just prior to the medallion swinging.

Edit:

Watching further is even worse. He is running up the sand hill at single digit frames (must be) and when he spins the camera, there is nothing smooth at all.

Edit 2:

Watch at 10:15 for a proper slideshow lol

I hope you are not saying I am telling lies?

Pretty sure he's using Vsync, you know his 60 FPS max.

When everyone's against you, it's generally because you're wrong, not right.
There's exceptions of course, but this ain't one of them.

He most certainly wasn't lying, but the test wasn't like for like.
  1. The video was recorded 10 months prior to the GTS 450 tests. That implies a couple of things: drivers used are much older (no "miracle driver" at play here. The initial benchmark is using an unpatched version of the game.
  2. FRAPS is being used for recording the benchmark in the video you posted. That cripples the fps by at least 15-20%.
  3. He uses an AMD CPU.
