Im thinking of upgrading my GTX 660 card

to one of the following
GTX 760, AMD 280, GTX 770

Im not sure i need to or which to get if i do.

GTX 760 should give me a 25% impovment, cost £160
MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC £180

280 should give me a 30% cost £150
MSI R9 280 GAMING 3G £175

GTX 770 should give me a 60% cost £210
MSI N760 TF 4GD5/OC £230

from the info the amd 280 and the GTX 760 are about even in price, but the 280 is a bit better

If your going to spend £210-230 on a GTX770 try to spend a bit more & buy an AMD 290 series much higher spec card @ £319.99 which is close to GTX780 performance but almost £100 cheaper. The other thing to consider is what PSU do you have you may need to upgrade that as well.

GTX760 & AMD280 would be a sideways move as little gain you would notice.

If you do stay with Nvidia I would go for one of these on special offer & almost silent:

I have a XFX Black 850w
Your PSU is ok then so its down to if you want a GTX770 or pay another £100 ish & get a decent AMD 290 which is almost GTX 780 performance for a lot less money!

Only you & your wallet can decide I prefer Nvidia as I like PhysX & the build quality but AMD do make some superb cards as well for the price especially they are unbeatable value for money but I have seen many complain some AMD cards get too hot/noisy.

I would go for one of these GTX770 both on special offer & almost silent:

The 280X is the better card, I don't really get why anyone would recommend a 770 at this point in time when it's got too little going for it.

I think ill check how much I can spend, I may get the 280x or a used 290x which should cost the same price.

I agree with the above regards getting a 280x over a 770, the 290 is a lot better card but for more £, if you are solely thinking about either a 770 or a 280x then the 280x is a far better deal, and free games too.

No, he was given an option IF he was happy to up his budget, along side recommendations of what were in the price bracket he was looking in.

If you already have a GTX 660 Whatever you do for Christ's Sake don't get a GTX 760.

In reality you will hardly notice the difference.

280, 770, 280X or 290.

A GTX 770 is slightly faster than a 280, a 280X has the same performance as the GTX 770 and an R9 290 is a little faster than a GTX 780.
