Labour.

I'd consider Greens but their anti-science bent is too strong for me and I'd worry about what they might do in the EU parliament.

The Conservatives are a joke in Europe ever since Cameron chose to pull them out of the major right wing block and thus completely hamstrung their influence. I wouldn't vote UKIP if they were the last party on Earth.

I've usually voted Lib Dem in the past but after Clegg? No bleepin' way.

Which leaves Labour pretty much. They're not exactly impressive but at least they vaguely lean left and they're also the only party with a chance of beating UKIP.

Voted UKIP last time with the aim to get a debate on Europe, which is exactly what we got (sort of).

Voting Green this time because I'm a leftie and they actually vote for and do leftie things unlike 'Labour'.

I'm pro-nuclear as well. It's baffling why Greens are against it, there are still a lot of old hippy nutters in the party's ranks. Still better than ex-BNP members like the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems have!

Recycling just makes sense, especially nuclear fuel.

I'm hoping the Green party ditch the hippy aspect & adopt a more scientific view on a number of subjects, they really need to shed the old image if they want to bring more people into the fold (the disillusioned left of the UK)

In the local I'll be voting for them, in the general election it will either be Green as a protest vote (no chance of them getting in where I live) or Conservative in the general election if my area ends up being a UKIP potential swing seat.

As much as I dislike the ideological stance of the Conservative party I don't believe they would utterly destroy our economy like UKIP would, neither do they have insane joke policies & a track record of not even showing up for key votes.

I meant more from a household perspective.

I reuse wherever I can, but my council makes actually putting stuff for recycling a complete pain in the butt, so it all goes to landfill. And whilst I get the 'limited resource' side of it, it takes more energy to recycle something than to create it from scratch (apart from aluminium cans).

my biggest gripe on energy is that parties are pro wind / anti nuclear or pro nuclear / anti wind etc

energy is going to be massive problem and our way of life depends on it. We should be building every type of power station we can, if we let everyone have their say then we end up building nothing.

also the UKIP thing - is Nigey "racist" probably not, his party certainly has attracted racist people in the past though - id say he is doing everything possible to distance himself and the party from these people, to gain legitimacy. Saying "UKIP is racist" is a bit of a cop out I think - id rather people ripped them a new one by pointing out how all our problems are nothing to do with immigration - or that other than "leave the EU / close the borders" policy - UKIP have nothing other than foamy at the mouth ramblings instead of real actual policies. UKIP is certainly using the Daily Mail blame everyone else / OMG outrage!!! technique that seems to work so well on British people.

A simple solution would be simply to go all out wind, then in 20-30 years time when the turbines are all at the end of their lifespan we scrap them and switch to clean safe thorium reactors which India will have perfected by then at the rate their going with it.

The thing that I worry about with UKIP is that once we're removed from the EU they will eventually/inevitably be voted out, I dread to think what the Conservatives would do to the poor of this country without EU human rights laws to restrain them, as they'll have no shame in changing/circumventing UK law to suit whatever dastardly policy they can think up.

It's not just the poor either the country will become a corporate controlled nightmare, the EU tend to stand up for the people against lobbying efforts whilst the Tories will sell the country out to the highest bidder.

Agree with you there

Pro nuclear here Worked for British energy and My family has enjoyed a pretty good life thanks to my dad being in the industry for his entire career.

I've sat through more Nuclear safety lectures and videos than I could care for It is one of the safest Energy sources we have Especially the AGR reactors in this country.

Pretty much why I don't mind the Conservatives with the restraints of the EU over them, coupled with the main reason why I'm in no way in favour of leaving the EU either.

I think that Spoil ballot and Abstain from voting should not be part of the poll, they're not counted in elections so why here? It will give a much clearer picture

Can we drop those two and re-calculate?

EDIT - Quick, back of a fag packet calculation

Labour 15.48%
Conservative 33.54%
UKIP 36.45%
Liberal Democrats 5.16%
Green Party 7.10%
Other (please specify) 2.26%

The Greens are against it (And push for unreliable low grade sources such as wind/solar) because they want a low energy future! They are most afraid of Nuclear power, not because it is in some way dangerous, but because they know that Nuclear generation would actually be safe and effective and that large scale application of Nuclear Power generation would blow their low energy/depopulated world vision completely out of the water!

The Greens hate the idea of Fusion too!

A low energy future means they have a profound misunderstanding of industrial and economic activity, the two are inextricably linked and energy use must grow if we're to continue being successful and venture into space in the future. I agree with most of their other policies though, they're the best of a bad bunch to me.

Hopefully this is a policy they can drop with something more pragmatic and vote-winning (supporting low pollution energy sources instead).

Oooo, visible poll. Can see who voted for what. Awesome.

Is there any good site to compare the parties for the euro elections?

I would say the same about the locals, but them local councillors are just plain retarded and don't understand the internet. Can't find each councillors manifesto. Divs.

Isn't Nigel Farage a millionaire ex-banker / ex-tory who failed at being an MP more times than I can count? I might be wrong but it's certainly not the type of Prime Minister I'd be happy with.
