Vote Green!

Thankfully the EU elections use PR so it does make a difference to vote for the smaller parties. It's very hard to distinguish between the 3 main parties and only the Greens really care about the environment and inequality.

Can't believe so many votes for UKIP. How can anyone take those clowns seriously?

I don't like UKIP but it is quite easy to see why they get so many votes. The top 3 parties have identical policies on Europe for all practical purposes. If you want to leave the EU, or control immigration from it, then you only have one party to vote for (ignoring the BNP as they are very extreme).

The good news is that this OCUK poll is not representative of the UK population. We'll see the real results at the next general election. UKIP will be nowhere. ;)

In part because the general election uses first past the post which is a terrible system which props up the major parties.

Again, this is not about the general election, I might well not vote for them then.

But for the european elections, I say the votes here are pretty accurate.

I am undecided right now.

I don't think Lib Dem have a strong enough leader.
I find Labour annoying - As a single man who works hard with no benefits I am tired of the 'but what about the poor?!' story yet again and again.

I think the current government has not done too badly (at least not as bad as people make out). I would have done the opposite with the tuition fees though, I would cut costs by killing off all the useless courses rather than raising fees. I find the 20% vat unfair, but then at least everybody pays it.

UKIP will do well this time round.

Why are people so against the idea of renewing our nuclear weapons capability?

Sure it costs a lot & it'd be nice to spend the money elsewhere, but you might find yourself agreeing with me when the crap hits the fan and we're unable to act. Or rather, when it hits the fan BECAUSE we're unable to act.

This dated and comedic take on the matter really makes an interesting point.
Really think about a situation where a nuclear weapon or weapons could be used against an aggressor in the 21st or 22nd centuries and it not effect everyone on earth in some way.

An argument for a much better equipped blue water navy and air force (Intercontinental Bombers) would be a far greater weapon that could actually be wielded against some-one like Russia, Iran, China etc.

Pps. We had nuclear (Polaris) weapons when the falklands started. They where not used or even threated to be used. What we did need, was a bigger aircraft carrier and intercontinental bombers.
