The trouble is we all know it was £350 with kinect and a game and they had trouble shifting systems, no one in their right mind will now pay that for a kinectless version. I'd want £50 off to buy one without kinect.

How do you know it had trouble...wheres the numbers...cause the only ones released only caught a fraction of the time it was on sale for, also the copies sold was heavily skewed as well.

i dont know how many XO have been sold worldwide, all i know is that the PS4 is outselling it, what the fanboys dont tell you tho is the PS4 is abailable in over 70 countries while the XO is only available in i think 13 or 14, if what i reads corect. if thats true then common sense tells you why the PS4 is ahead

Just a pity it was bundled with a Kinect in the first place. It is a complete gimmick and the performance is so unpredictable. When I try to get it to recognize hand gestures it takes multiple attempts yet I was wondering around the room the other day talking on the phone with the Xbone on in the background and the hand icon was flying all over the place, turning pages etc which had nothing to do with what I was doing.

Like I've said before the money wasted on the Kinect could have gone to make the console itself better ie better ram or whatever.

Why does common sense tell you that's why its ahead? I'd appreciate if you walk me through the logic...

i cant get it to recognise my voice properly especially the turn off command but yeah they should have either made the kinect mandatory, where the console wouldnt/couldnt function without it, or done away with it altogether.

Yes I'm sure when the Xbox 36one launches in Slovakia and Poland in September it will make all the difference. :D

The Kinect-less console is a new SKU.

Nobody mentioned a 'change' or the chipset, what on earth are you on about?

Cause it would be a new UPC, not really an SKU, depending on store, which is usally for a change in the line, IE, change in chassis etc, so basically these are the same build just boxed without a Kinect.
Well, for stock keeping that is, I never knew if people used this term lol.
Having worked for the Purple shirts Game and HMV, I can tell you now...they don't use new input codes for these kinds of things lol, they simply change the price.

Why wouldn't it be a new SKU unless you think every one already packaged and branded with Kinect is either going to be sold by June or sent back to MS to be repackaged?

Perhaps there will be a fire sale if only the Kinectless SKU exists post June - seems more logical to have both SKU variants out there and then decide if both or just one should exist.

Your logic astounds me.

PS4 is heavily outselling XBO in every territory they are both available in, hence the constant flip flopping from MS.

well im not the brightest but im assuming the fact that the ps4 is available in approx 50 countries where the xbox one isnt yet means the only next gen console available is the PS4, although if the sales of 7m for ps4 and 5m for XO are true then i dont think the xo is doing too bad

So it seems this decision has annoyed most people who alredy own an XB1 but has potentially now made a significant amount of people jump on board. Even though its pretty bad that they have essentially turned away from the whole original idea for the console this is probably the best decision for them to get some more sales. The only problem is now that the whole console is essentially underpowered due to the design decisions made because of Kinect, now they have lost this key feature and have a less powerful console they REALLY need to pump out a good library of games to keep up with Sony.

Personally this has made it more appealing to me as I HATE motion gaming anyway, unfortunately the price and the size of the physical box are still issues for me, however once they release a slim version at a cheaper price I'll be interested, where as before I wasn't interested at all.

So do you think XO could sell 4 times as much since its in 4 times less countries? I think looking at those missing countries should help with that answer.

I didn't know XO had sold through 5million already! Not bad as you've said...

no what im saying is im pretty sure if the XO had been available in the same amount of countries as the PS4 has then the gap would be less than the current 2m gap in sales which the ps4 holds. also i dont know what countries each console os sold on or am particularly bothered either tbh.

sitting beside my virgin tive box and there isnt a great deal of dif between the 2, the xo is slightly higher but not as wide. i actually prefer the chunky glossy design on it

So the XO would sell more in those missing countries than the PS4 then (how else could it reduce the gap?!?)? Why isn't it doing the same in the countries where both are released currently?

It strikes me that your original statement doesn't seem to hold much water. Perhaps consider a revision...

EDIT: I would contest that perhaps the original launch countries that MS choose were all countries that contributed the most to the overall X360 sales and that the remaining countries were relatively incidental to that number - enough not to be considered worth launch nearly a year later

im not saying it would outsell the ps4 in the 50 or so mossing countries where the ps4 is already on sale, however im pretty sure if the xo was available in say 37 ( assuming the ps4 is sold in countries the xo aint )or so more countries, or the exact same amount as the ps4 is, then the sales would be closer than what they are.

well im assuming they would anyways. at the end of they day im assuming that by my reckoning the ps4 is readily available to probably tens if not hundreds of million more potential customers at this moment in time compared to the xbox one

Oh I think they would be closer, significantly closer is arguable - I'm sure you could look at percentage sales of the X360 LTD and extrapolate what the XO would do in that country based on that 5 million figure you stated.

Though that would ignore any grey market/import sales...
