Hi I just bought a "SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black"

I didn't realise that they have these white LED lights on the modular inputs. Looks a bit silly. any thoughts on how to turn them off. What would happen if I opened the case and just twisted them off?

Warrantee would be void for sure ;)

If it has not been dispatched yet, you could cancel the order?

Superflower seems to be taking this place by storm and for very good reason. The next unit to it is EVGA's Supernova G2s they don't have any lights.

These units are great, but not quite as good as superflowers own.

Warranty definitely void. If you do do it, I'd advise cutting rather than gonig all he-man and twisting them off. The latter will probably short something out and damage things. Which would be an issue when you don't have warranty.

Next time, read the product info!

I think even superflower help manufacture the G2s?. The EVGA is definitely another great PSU

Yes they do ( only the bigger once mind) They are not as good as proper superflowers but they come quite close. Plus they have a TEN YEAR warranty :o

I just pulled the trigger on the 850watt Supernova ( the superflower 850 was out my budget :()

Why the sad face ? :p You are essentially getting the same psu with a better warranty for less money.

The LED lights are not that bright. They just glow white more than project white light.

I'm not into lights in cases but I find the superflower ok.

Essentially, yes but EVGA G2s simpler are not quite as good as superflower equivalents..But they are not far off it

AMG: no I have installed in and just noticed the LED.
Abbotsmike: yup, lesson learnt

Moogleys: I have a glass case and I am not a fan of any lights but it is prominent. Each to their own of course. I have no clue about the internals of a PSU but it seems to be a good one by all accounts.

I do think they could improve by at least including a UK style socket. Not a major issue but it’s a sloppy sales tactic. Further, a small switch turning off the LEDS would be good. Would cost very little to have included that

I think these long warrantees are in reality, somewhat ineffective as you need to keep receipts and remember where you bought it from, and then pay postage to send it back. During that time you are without a PSU. For me anyway the real comfort is that superflower offering a 10 year warrantee demonstrates to me that they stand by their product so it must be good.

Actually just on this topic. You may notice IKEA offer ten year warrantees. I have a lot of dealings with marketing people and they tell me it’s just a clever sales tactic. They know the behaviour of people, being the vast majority will not bother exercising the warrantee and a very minor amount will actually take ikea up on the warrantee.

I'm sure I saw it mentioned on here that OCUK should put in a UK lead, so take that up with them!

So true on the warranties, especially with the British culture of not complaining. I try to make life easier by scanning copies of all my receipts, makes them searchable and harder to lose!

Apart from the LED connectors and a different psu housing, it is exactly the same. They are both made in the same factory by Superflower. They share the same internals.

Have you built your Pc in a fish tank... :)
