Those look great. The first one is the sort of shot I like. I'd love to take some shots like that on Dartmoor, they'd be amazing.

Whilst you own your land you own nothing of it once you get off the ground, and UASs are treated equally to any other aircraft. Legally a UAS could fly within 50m of you/your property, and being the UK taking photos of private property from public property is also legal.

If it is somewhere where you have the reasonable assumption of privacy you aren't allowed to be photographed on private property.

If you are visible from the street you are fair game but if you're only visible to a little plane flying just above their own property then it's illegal.

If it wasn't the press would be overflying celebrities' property with "drones" permanently

Would be absolute carnage if the press started using drones to get their shots. Bet they'd all crash into each other and the garden would be littered with smashed up drones.

Its probably illegal with altitude laws etc, but as long as you are not endangering low flying aircraft, it wouldn't be enforced.

After playing eve online for a year these drones always seem so disappointing.

I love the Ariel footage though its so smooth and graceful.

Not correct (although close enough for most hobbyists).

You will find some UAVs fall under ITAR and not the Export Administration Regulations (based on payload and range I think) and some UAVs fall within the scope of Schedule 2 of the Export Control Order (aka the UK Military List) and not Schedule 3 (aka the UK Dual Use List).

But you won't find any of them on Amazon...

A set of hobgoblin II's would do my car just nicely.

Got any further details on that? "Assumption of privacy" is quite vague if that is the actual wording.

There was a DJI Phantom with gopro mounted filming a guy juggling in the park yesterday. I wanted to ask for a go but wouldn't incase I crashed it

Don't see the harm unless you constantly circle one a or group of people with a camera mounted drone. Maybe somewhere like a nudist beach they wouldn't be welcome!

I think there will be some colossal laws made on these soon that control their use more than now.

Saying that if i had some spare cash i would buy one right now... It would be freaking awesome over here with all the old military buildings and fortifications in the forests.

Thats not right mate, in the UK you own the airspace above your plot as defined by the land registry which states

there is a presumption that the land includes both the airspace above (to such height as is necessary for the ordinary use and enjoyment of the land) and everything under the soil, subject to exclusions such as coal.

Now, in residential areas where the use of a shotgun isn't permitted you would fall foul of firearms laws, but anything coming into the above space would probably be trespass.

On a farm where there are likely shotguns in use, who knows, it might still be criminal damage.
