The UKIP popularity is getting rather concerning. I really hope it is nothing more than a protest vote in order to stick it to the other parties rather than genuine support.

You can blame all the tory\labour\lib dems supporters for it. As they go out of their way to trash UKIP.
And as we all know the BRITISH people love the under dog and wants it to win ;)

Concerning to you perhaps.

If the UK public majoritively votes them into power, then who are you to say they aren't the party deserving to be the leaders of the country? Isn't that the general idea of a democratic election?

I'd be pretty worried if a party I'd openly allied myself too were subject to regular concerns about racism. You find it funny? Well..

I'd be pretty worried if I believed with blind faith everything I read in papers or saw on the Internet

If you go and dig about all of them like you do with UKIP, you will find the same storey and the agenda behind it.

I could go out of my way to find dirt on all the party's, but why bother as it's up to each person to pick who they vote for.

Ukip popular Support show the public have had enough of status quo.

Time for a change. Those who find it hard to believe ukip are so popular it must be hard coming to terms that the public don't share your narrow view of the world.

Roll on election, be plenty of you crying on your cornflakes.

While this is true, I have still seen - on the streets and internet - a sharp rise in Negative nationalism; people genuinely believing that immigrants are the sole cause of our economic problems and 'lack of jobs'. Just as Hitler scapegoated the Jews for all societies problems, so too is Mr. Farage scapegoating the immigrants.

People seem to forget we don't all run independent economies anymore. We live in a globalised world with a globalised workforce. And most of these jobs immigrants are 'taking' probably aren't even British companies to begin with.

I'm not even voting for anyone, I just find it rather funny when people call it "concerning" because a political party they don't agree with is gaining power. As if Farage is the next Hitler or something. Get real.

And the only word they can find in their limited vocabulary to steer up the nest is "racist". Everything is "racist" these days. It's one of the most overused, misunderstood words in modern times it seems

Quite.

We have (at least the illusion of) a democracy. Who other people vote for is their business really, whether I think it's a poor decision or not.

You are aware that the concept of a democracy is reliant on an intelligent & informed population?.

The worst thing about UKIP is that it's actually encouraging the stereotype that the 'average voter' is an insufferable moron who needs to led by the government for their own good - unable to make choices rationally & don't know what's best for them.

Ironically the very social problem which led to all the major political parties ignoring the social demograph who are now motivated to vote for UKIP. An interesting question would be as to if this will actually change the main parties to now listen to this social group?, or will it motivate them to actually educate the population to prevent this kind of garbage politics from re-occurring?.

It is Labours & The Conservative parties fault, just not for the reasons peddled by UKIP (they are correct this group has been ignored, just incorrect on the allocation of blame on immigrants).

It would be an interesting social experiment if it wasn't likely to ruin our country in the process.

LOL

I couldn't make this nonsense up if I tried. Funny though how I mentioned Farage and Hitler as a pathetic comparison and then someone goes and makes it in the post above me :p

I see no rational response to ukip its all Nazi, racist bs.
Its generally hilarious to see people dumbstruck for a response.

Ah so now everyone is stupid if they vote different to your opinions? Got it.

And here's me thinking the average IQ of a British person is in fact higher than most of Europe and higher than it was in the past. I guess we've never had a democracy then?

So you deny that he is scapegoating immigrants? I'm not saying he's gonna try and invade Europe or anything like that but he shifting the blame onto a minority group nonetheless.

@NinetyOneE

In your little EU centric world.
Ukip global trade with all especially commonwealth where most predicted GDP growth will be in next 50 years.

Oh and I would argue strongly the general population is far more informed than it ever has been
They are significantly more misinformed - I'll give you that.

It's nothing to do with opinions, it's about having a rational viewpoints you can defend with supported studies or evidence.

UKIP policy is an emotional based one without any supporting evidence, there are numerous examples of the deliberate misuse of statistics to justify nothing better than scapegoat politics.
