FIFA 14

Man never felt so inadequate in my life - just another skill level completely. Hard not to feel like an anchor compared to you lot - was fun nonetheless!

ps3ud0

play the fifa beta on origin, open my first pack and get 2 tots cards lol. Pay £40 for the game and god knows how many packs before i got something decent.

all really, been a big pes fan for years and fifa is a heck of a lot dif

There is a few schools of thought when It comes to defending.

There is the 'pro evo' method, which is basically running at the attacker with 2 or more players. So the attacker can't move/pass. This method can be effect but very very risky.

There is the 'back track' method, which is my favorite. It requires a formations with 4 defenders and 2 CM/CDM's. With the CDM's dropping deep the attacker will try and get between them (the CDM and the CB). Instead of bringing the CB out to meet him (which the player normally expects) you have a CDM close enough to grab the ball from behind (:)), even if that doesn't work, you'd send the attacker off balance ready for the CB to tackle with ease.

Another method is 'the pounce'. I use this very often to great effect, but it requires insanely good timing. With an attacker running at you (CB), you either back pedal or hold your ground depending on the section of the pitch you are in. You carry on back pedaling until (just before) the attacker starts to sprint, then you 'rush' the attacker with one defender. Again this isn't easy to pull off but no very risky.

Some more tips,

Use any strength your defender has to either slow down or push the attacker off the ball.

A strong aerial presences is key.

CDM's are really useful for defending.

Don't bring your keep out unless he is (100%) the last line of defense.

Never bring the keeper out unless he can get to the ball before the attacker (lob ball) or at the same time as the attacker.

your just asking to be chipped (which is easy to do) and then it's an easy goal for them.

if you cannot get to the ball, pretend to bring your keeper out by making him come forward 5-10 yards then stop and let him go back, this makes a lot of players think your coming for them so they attempt a chip which your keeper then catches as he is running back.

as for defending it's a natural ability from practice and initiative and playing the game, it cannot really be taught. the only tip I can give you is go for defenders with at least 75 pace. the taller they are the better too. Kaboul is like 6'4 that is why he is so good with 78 pace.

defenders you want are kaboul, luiz, up kosc, ramos, pepe, miranda, chiellini, up benatia, boateng, santana, silva, etc.

also ideally you want 85+ pace full backs or full backs with medium attack rates so they don't venture forward as much, height also helps a lot.

if i had to choose between 2 defenders who look similar but one is 6'2 and the other 5'11, then it's the 6'2 guy every time.

same with keepers, the taller they are the better.

courtois, begovic, cech, sirigu, handanovic, adler

best defensive formations are wither 5 at the back or 4 at the back with 2 cdms. every formation has a weakness though and a counter formation, game skill is the most important aspect alongside having the best/right players for you and your playstyle.

Not sure if this has been discussed as im not active in this thread anymore, but it seems recently the last month or so people are having much better pack luck a few of my friends who havent played in months went on and pulled out i think (TOTS (blue card) Alaba and another pulled out the 91 rated Cheillini both of which have opened £200 worth of packs before quitting like myself getting nothing decent. Not only that Youtubers seems to be pulling them out every single pack opening, seems EA have let loads more go probably to keep people interested.

You were good mate, just come off that touchline a little bit more to get involved in the game

Actually part of our problem (small considering we lost 1 and won 6 overall) was that our shape while attacking was a bit lopsided. Poly was wide right but you were running through the middle a lot leaving the left empty. Doesn't really matter but it means there's less space for me as the defenders track you inside as well and cramp the space for runs.

Like real football it's about choosing your moments to make the dash inside. Just have to be careful to use the space on the attack because at times you could throw a net over me you and vor. :p

Doesn't change the fact I was a bit poo compared to normal but ah well :D

Well tbh I did stay quite wide initially but got about 3 touches in the first game because nobody passed to me and it went up the middle every time :(

So I ended up playing left in in our own half but came more central near the box. As I was right footed not much point being wide high up the pitch too.

Even the one we lost we still scored 3 so was working quite well in attack? The point is we were RAM/LAM so not LM/LW/RM/RW so should be coming inside, right?

the trick with pro clubs is if they use 4 defenders play through the middle. if they play with 5 defenders use the wings and cross as there's more space on the sides of the pitch.

long shots are brilliant too if you can get space, corners are useless i have found (mind you one guy insists on taking them and he's crap at crossing).

your only as good as your any man at the end of the day, he is the key to the whole thing, his vision and passing as well as defending is key to success. you can be making a brilliant run, shouting for the ball but if the any man doesn't see your run it's pointless and usually by the time he does your offside. the any man really is the key.

i've played in every division and tbh they are all hard, only stayed in division one for a few seasons. the game is far more satisfying though as it relies more on skill than fut does.

It was OK... nowte wrong with coming inside and if you're opposite footed that's good but if you're occupying the two CBs in your starting position and running from there the full back will be coming inside to track you as well. Just means there's no space for the ST or CAM. As I say, it's just about timing. The game mode is quite different to others so just takes time to pick it up as well as learning what kind of moves the people you're playing with make.

We lost after you went :p. Was a disgusting game to be fair. For their winning goal our keeper went to pick the ball up at the edge of box and just parried it to their striker :D.

Does the Any use his own pro or does he just have to cope with whatever dross he's given by the game?

he uses everyone on the pitch plus his own pro, excluding the guys in the same team using their own pro's.

if someone dc's he also gains control of their pro. we do this sometimes if someone has had their last game. tell him to go into the next game and then quit after 5 seconds, so the any can use his player instead of the dross.

Judging by the FIFA social bias on here to PS, I'm courrently rather peeved to be an xb'er, even Dan left me and I barely see Andy, Stewy is just a ghost!
