I've not voted labour before - a lot of this increase in UKIP voting I blame on Ed Milliband

He is so generally rubbish at being in opposition, its left people who are not happy with the Government without a sensible choice to vote for

"we wouldn't to that" is not a policy, stupid jokey adverts is not a policy
their only position on anything is that they don't have the same position as the coalition.
Failing to accept (any) responsibility for the financial crisis, has also left them on the constant defence against the past
Accept your mistakes and you can move on, Just making excuses doesn't restore any legitimacy, which is why the Tories can get away with still just saying "the mess you left us in" to every question.

Id vote for David Milliband

I also blame a massive immaturity to coalition politics, I guess its new so peoples expectations don't quite line up. although id admit Lib Dems have been a weak and naïve partner.

I don't like the line that UKIP are immune to general criticism of MP's or that the other parties and the media are aligned with UKIP on the outside - they are all part of the same system, and all use the media in the same way.

I don't really think it's fair to blame Labour for the global financial crisis. There are plenty of genuine things to be annoyed with Labour about but that really shouldn't be one of them (well, any-more annoyed than you would be at any other political party).

More-so when you take into account both the Conservatives & Liberal Democrats supported the bailing out of the banks & would have done the exact same thing.

im not saying they caused it - im saying they handled it badly, and that generally they spent too much and saved too little
They reacted far too slowly and then opposed every cut that was made to get things back in order

It's difficult, we are judging with the benefit of hindsight - the public-debt problem is one related to pretty much every single developed economy in the world (excluding those with a small population & vast mineral deposits), in times of growth spending is a form of investment & can work out well.

There is also a school of thought which supports the idea that cutting services actually increases the damage of a recession & impedes growth, without knowing how things would look today had we used a different strategy any judgements are pure conjecture.

I'm sure they made plenty of sub-optimal choices & made countless mistakes , but I'm equally sure the same could be said for the government before & after. The key difference being, when a recession hits the incumbent government takes the blame of society (which in this case isn't fairly allocating the blame) - many of these issues are systemic to our economy.

In other words "The puppy closest to the poo get the blame" :p

I don't disagree with you - I guess my point might have been that Ed has failed to demonstrate that they have learned anything from the mess -
and people are not going to take them seriously until they do. Generally their last three years has been to oppose any cut - and now we are nearing elections - Ed just talks about spending more money again. It works against them for convincing people who (rightly or wrongly) hold them responsible

I can tell you the results of the next 2 general elections now.. Conservative + Conservative. Then we can go back to Labour. British politics is stale and predictable.

This UKIP EU /Local election blip is Farages moment in the sun and will be over soon. IF A 1 policy party won the general election i doubt id ever come back. (No big loss you say :P )

You are indeed correct.

While the public perception of blame may be off mark a bit, they still need to address it & have failed to do it.

Labours biggest problem is having a leader void of charisma, they could be saying the exact same message & doing significantly better had they picked a different leader (different to the final selection they got it down to).

I didn't believe that this could possibly be real at first but the Manchester Evening News journalist who broke the story swears blind that they've confirmed that it's genuine.

I didn't think even UKIP could be this stupid.

Erm.... you really believe that? lol... manchester evening news are not a reliable source of info.

MEN have a history of sensational stories that turn out to be hoaxes or just plain made up... around election time it is best to just ignore newspapers entirely :p

After reading it a few times if genuine i bet its a sarcastic comment on the asian community and how they get elected in areas where they should have no chance. I remember a few years ago there was a story going about in regard to the asian lobby faking ballots and doing the behaviour listed in the article.

UKIP are apparently investigating. It appears to be very, very genuine.

Yes seems its a sarcastic comment on the ( alleged) abuses by the asian ( LABOUR ) community in the area. ( with the bottom of the acticle cut off to make it more sensational than it is )

Will be interesting to see if the alleged abuses are actually investigated or, more likely, the guy will be investigated and the original allegations totally ignored.

This has been going on for years... the allegations of fraud in the asian community during elections. Its is always either ignored or washed over, that is why the tensions are high. If you do not live in the area you have no valid comments... ( i used to live in the area and heard both sides... there were genuine fears of fraud that were never looked into ). There were witnesses of such things as muliple instances of the same men entering polling stations close to each other and apparently voting several times throughout the day etc etc

Why did you cut the bottom portion off that makes it plain the leaflet is a tongue in cheek attack on electoral fraud?

The leaflet is obviously a joke about the activities carried out by Labour in Oldham.

The attacks on UKIP in the press are just laughable at the moment. They are just ensuring that more people will vote UKIP.

Which is good thing, given the state the 'main' parties have allowed the country to get into.

This is getting ridiculous. :o

Some people will just stop at nothing to try and attack UKIP at all costs.

The only good thing is that it's pushing people to vote for them because so many are seeing straight through it all now.

That's a shocking story but not uncommon sadly. I know of people in my area who have gone through similar agonies with this Tory government. I volunteer for AGE UK every week. One of our users is a 56 year old man called Mel. He's in a wheelchair and only has one leg. He was told he was fit to work as he could use crutches. He's currently appealing the decision. UKIP are even more right wing. If they got in (which they never will thankfully) it would be even worse.

Based on the information you provider he sounds like a scrounger, loss of limb is no reason not to work.

Ive met loads of people who work despite loss of limb.

It may be he is unable to continue in his profession and if thats the case he should be supported and retrained to work elsewhere.
