*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

EDIT: There are a few games that require Wiimotes - Wii Party U and Wii Sports Club. The latter requires Wiimote+.

If you want to make use of backwards compatibility (if you want to play 'Wii' games), then you'll need a Wiimote and nunchuck.

Not fussed on the party or sports stuff but I might be interested in getting some Wii games that I missed out on like SMG1+2 and Xenoblade. If I get a Wiimote+ and a nunchuck am I good to go?

Someone just asked me about my Wii U pre-order in the break room(at work) These are people that mostly have kids and a Wii. Most of them had heard Wii U's are ****, one person thought it was a handheld like a psp and the rest hadn't heard of it.

No wonder hardly anyone buys them.

Hmm...not sure about that to be honest! For some reason I've got fonder memories of WW, although certain parts in OOT were spine-tingling, like getting Epona :D

OOT is still the best Zelda game IMO, probably due to me playing it when a lot younger with some friends immersed in a game that seemed to take forever to complete.

Re-played it with hesitation on the 3DS and it was still fantastic. I really regret not having a GC and Wii now. I wish I could count the hours spent on my PS3 compared to the Wii U as the Wii U would probably surpass it already.

I'm not even sure I have enough time in life for the back catalogue, VFM the Wii U is by far the best console out their. Well if you're interested at all in Nintendos 1st party games.

Can't say I'm suprised at that price (especially as people have received their clubcard vouchers as well)

Logged back onto my work laptop and the bundle was still in my basket so I quickly added clubcard vouchers and checked out for £190 even though the website says its out of stock :D

This is part of the problem, and retailers arent clear either :/

Looking for a pro controller the other day, some websites had it under the same stuff as the standard wii, some have wii/wii u sections and some have them seperated

People that dont follow the industry etc like us here wouldnt have a clue that the wii u is the "wii 2" essentially, they just think its an add on etc

I think anybody that has any knowledge of the gaming industry at all would agree that naming the console "Wii U" was a colossal mistake which has probably cost Nintendo a lot of money. Which is a shame as I love that the Wii U goes back to pure gaming roots rather then gimmicky motion stuff of the Wii.

Either way right now Wii U is for sure the best next gen console on the market.

I've long said the naming of the Wii U, Wii U - was a massive mistake.

They should really have just dropped the Wii name lock stock and barrel and moved on. No confusion, clean slate.

Looks like Tesco don't have any more Mariokart bundles :(

Genuinely devastated - if it comes back into stock it's getting ordered straight away. Massively regret delaying :(

Edit: Can get Wii U, Lego City and Mass Effect 3 from Argos for £210. Get that and the Mario Kart deal for £40, register MK8, end up with a Wii U and 4 decent games for £250. Could be worse :D If the Tesco deal isn't back in stock by the time I order tonight, I'll be doing that.

I wouldn't really be interested in Lego City or Mass Effect 3 but the fact that you wouldn't have to wait until the 30th makes me jeolous.

Cant believe I held off for a couple of days now Tesco have run out of stock.

CURSE MY INDECISION.

My head works like this lots of the time too... "Hmm... not sure if I want it..." then when it goes out of stock it turns to "DAMN I REALLY WANTED THAT". :D

Yep. Same here.

At the very least they should have called it Wii 2 or Wii HD. They both sounds so much better :)

Hey guys,

Waiting for my wii u to arrive tomorrow. I'm trying to think of 'essential' purchases...
I've got: A wii u premium Zelda pack.
I think I need month 1: Extra Wii U motionplus remote + nunchuk, Super Mario 3d World + Mario Kart 8.

I think that's enough to keep me going but is there anything else you'd recommend? Any absolute must play games etc?

Yep, Wiimote+ and Nunchuck is all you need... unless you want to play Wii Fit.

NB The premium Wii U(black) comes with a sensor bar, but the basic Wii U(white) does not.
