I think you've forgot about the ones that come here and work cash in hand, so no tax paid.

There is no such thing as illegal Pole. Even if they are tax cheats, it just makes them tax cheats, not illegal immigrants. And their tax records is the last thing dentists or NHS workers will ever be able to pull out. Not even Border Agency has such powers.

Can't wait to leave the EU and get rid of the Human rights bill.

You do realise International Bill Of Human Rights have nothing to do with EU membership, right?

don't the EU keep making new "human rights" up that we have to abide by?

Nope, They're mostly ex-UKIP people who got disenfranchised with the leadership refusing to be more extreme.
Its a shame really, as they detract from the anti-eu message vote.

Eh? They describe themselves as being to the "left of UKIP", which suggests they are less extreme. For example they are anti-privatisation whereas UKIP are very much pro.

I voted for them (UK Independence Now) in the EU elections and Labour in the local elections (mainly because I know the Councillor and he's alright and I live in a Labour stronghold anyway).

No. Are you talking about cases like Abu Hamza's deportation? That's European Court of Human Rights, which is part of the Council of Europe, co-founded by UK in 1949 through the Treaty of London.

Council of Europe is not the same as Consilium/Council of Ministers/Council of the European Union.

Leaving European Union will not change ECHR or anything Human Rights, and believe me, you don't really want it to.

I can't get my head around why you wouldn't want the human rights bill. It seems that literally the sole issue of contention is our inability to deport criminals. However, what this inability (or lack of desire) does show is that we are unwilling, as a country, to submit criminals to inhuman punishment in other countries. This, I think, is noble and very human, and I'm pleased that we do it.

Are there any other reasons?

Probably the recent spate of letting murderers and armed robbers out on day release after only a few years in prison and them escaping....

Because it's rubbish? Just because it's called "Human Rights Act" doesn't make it good.

Dude.

The Human Rights Act is probably the most ingenious piece of legislation since it was enacted. It doesn't actually give any additional rights than people already had, it simply means that UK courts can apply the law of the ECHR directly.

The best bit is that it means legislation has to be interpreted to be compatible with the convention of human rights. References to husband and wife are thus interpreted to civil partnerships etc.

In short, it's speeding up the evolution of law, which is only a good thing.

In Britain, final opinion polls showed the UK Independence Party, which wants to withdraw from the EU and impose tighter immigration controls, topping the poll and pushing the governing Conservatives into third place behind Labour.

Although if you look at the polls in detail you find the picture is more complicated than that; Labour were ahead on raw support, UKIP takes it because their base describe themselves as more likely to actually vote. The question is what actually happened with turnout. We'll find out in a few days.

Local elections, I voted for the incumbents, who I feel are doing a reasonable job.

Despite my better judgement, I also took the opportunity to stick two fingers up to the establishment for the Euro elections. My mum has been hit by the bedroom tax and also the fitness to work stuff, which makes me angry. She's putting up my little sister who has fallen on hard times and they keep cocking up the paperwork. My mum is in no way fit to work anymore - her doctor is furious with the grief she's had.

So yeah, UKIP for Euros - hopefully it helps send a message because despite being a "normally" Tory voter, some of their policies are extremely bitter on the palate to me.

What policies are you trying to object to?

Not so much objecting, more like disagreeing with how they are blindly implemented. That's why they leave a bad taste in the mouth [Bedroom Tax and testing fitness to work].

Anyways, done and dusted now, let's watch the entertainment when the votes are counted. :)

Do you understand that UKIP are a libertarian party and what that means?

UKIP want to privatise the NHS. You mum wouldn't even be able to see a doctor if UKIP won a general election.
