What have you done to your car today?

Took it in for an MOT...

Half expecting a fail. Rear brakes discs are a mess, and the front suspension bushes got flagged the last two years.

"almost" took a wing mirror off :p was trying to get in the developing right hand lane but the van/pickup/tipper in front of me in the lane I was trying to leave didn't quite pull far forwards enough for me to squeeze by into the lane. got up the the wing mirrors and then stopped as didn't want to deal with hassle if it did touch.

thought the dude left like 10ft between him and the car infront :p could he not pull that ft or two more so I could get by. I know I do if I see someone wanting to turn behind me and my arse is a bit in the way :p

Replaced the speakers in the MX5, the old ones looked a little dead when I pulled them out

Went to VW to order a new Polo, for the facelift due out and organise my current one to be traded in for delivery in September.

I thought you already had an almost new Polo, why would you replace it already? Has it not lasted very long or something?

I have a 63 plate Polo, had it since December, it's on a PCP deal. Got it from a good friend who works for VW. He phoned me the other day asking if I wanted to trade in mine and get a new one for the same money. Ended up costing a little more with adding a few options etc.

I was close. Failed on a track rod end, plus the rear discs barely passed being worn, pitted and scored. Made it to nine years without a fail.

My wallet is now a couple of hundred quid lighter.

Typical sales patter, they love doing that, means they get to extend the agreement whilst pretending it doesnt cost any extra because the monthly payments are the same..

I completely agree. I know that I am signing up to a 3 year deal again, and before I had this car I was never one for PCP or the like. I always liked to own the car etc. However, I also like knowing I have a fixed monthly outgoing for the car, servicing, insurance (Normal and GAP) and that is that.

I mainly swapped because my 1.2 3 cylinder engine is poor, which I should have known at the time.

You pay monthly for GAP?

Yeah, on my current car, it added £150 to the agreement and he spread it over the monthly instalments.

Is that bad...?

The actual amount is very reasonable from a dealer, spreading £150 through several years with interest seems
Completely unnecessary though.

Mind you unless you're on a ludicrously high rate it won't make much odds compared to the near £15k you probably have for the car!

They wont charge interest on the GAP.

Plopped a Simota CF induction kit in the 330ci. Got it cheap, gives the car a nice induction roar. Don't think it's made the car quicker, it does feel more lively when chasing the redline but that's likely a placebo.

That's the one i've got. Makes it sound really really nice especially at the top end.
