This BBC article gives 9 pairs for men and 17 pairs for women as ballpark figures. Granted, I have a rather feminine male friend who owns 16 pairs of trainers alone (and 8 pairs of jeans!), but otherwise, I find the 9 / 17 for shoes a bit much. I have like, 2 pairs of smart/work shoes, 2 pairs of trainers for the outdoors, and 1 pair of pumps for sports/gym. So that's 5 pairs for me which I think is pretty normal. If you want jeans as well (since I mentioned my mate), then 2 pairs of jeans for me + 2 work trousers + 2 pairs of shorts.

How many pairs do you all have?

- Red Wings boots
- Brown brogue boots
- Levis boots
- White Topman plimsolls
- Random old Diesel hi-tops for 'round the house/pop down the shops' trainers

5.

I need a few more summer shoes so maybe 7 soon.

Too many.
When you think of running shoes, gym shoes, boots, loafers, casual, flip flops, hiking boots, football shoes/boots etc
Wouldn't want to count :p

Don't even ask on the wife, all I know is she has a summer collection for when it's warmer and then a winter collection.

I have

2 pair of Nike air max
1 more casual trainer
1 pair timberlands
1 trainer style boot
1 pair smart shoes

that's all I need

mrs on the other hand I would say 30+ that she can actually get too. probally wear 2 or 3 pairs of them drives me mad

I know a lot of males with horrendous amount of shoes as it seems to be the "cool" thing to collect any form of nike shoe

Smart black oxfords
Scruffy & totally shot comfy brown oxfords
Sketchers deck shoes
Leather walking boots
White trainers
A few old pairs I should throw away (probably)

1. Smart work shoes
2. Merrells for most uses
3. Onitsuka Tigers for casual
4. Trainers for sports
5. Wellies
6. Merrell Sandals
7. football boots (outdoor)
8. AstroTurf football boots

Probably got some old workboot/walking boot type things in the attic too.

I really don't buy shoes often - only 2 of the above were bought in the past 18 months, so the 9 in that BBC article seems reasonable

1 pair of nice shoes
2 pairs of converse
1 pair of adidas smart trainers
2 pairs of soft ground football boots (Newest pair are Mercurial Hypervenoms :D )
1 pair of astroturf trainers
1 pair of work boots

Eek.

2 pairs of nice shoes for work, one of which actually gets worn unless it's a special client meeting
2 pairs of trainers, one of which is an old pair for muddy walking/painting.

So really 2 pairs I use, and 2 for backup.
