:D and :D

I will be glad to see Courtois in the Chelsea goal... It'll probably mean that Cech goes, if not this summer then in January, which is a huge shame. But Courtois is at least as good, and he's 10 years younger, so overall it'll be a step up in the long term.

If Chelsea have Costa and Courtois for next season, sign a world class central midfielder (Pogba? Koke?), and don't lose any of their top players to PSG, then I think they'll be a powerful force next season.

A good-quality backup striker (Mandzukic?) and another left back (Shaw?) would be a bonus, but not essential. As a strike lineup I'd be happy with Costa, Lukaku and Ba.

... just waiting for the news of a Torres transfer now!

I know it was bad chelsea didn't win it this year with the advantage they had in March but jesus if they don't win it with all that lot 0.o

Not a chance someone like Mandzukic would leave a club to be second fiddle. A move away from Bayern would be to play first team football.

You're all going to flat out disagree with me, and it'll take next season (at the very least) to prove me right or wrong, but I think Costa will flop.

Atletico are designed for him to score goals. He's strong and can bully defenders but in terms of hold up play and actual ability to make things happen for himself he's not great. His success at Chelsea is very much going to depend on whether or not they can get the ball into the right areas for him.

Robben has, and Strootman won't be bought in this transfer window, he can't play until next year due to injury.

I wouldn't take any people ruling things out seriously just yet anyway, they'll want the World Cup out of the way first, then we'll see what happens.

Strootman will be available for the start of the season. Still won't be bought :D

It certainly wouldn't be the first time for Chelsea... Crespo, Shevchenko, Torres...

Still though, we can all agree that Chelsea need a world-class striker, and realistically who else is available? Cavani hasn't exactly set the world on fire this season (though I don't think he's done as badly as some have claimed) and PSG have no reason to sell, Falcao is injured, Aguero and Suzaez wouldn't be sold to a title rival for any price.

World-class strikers with proven premiership chops are few and far between. Realistically it's just Aguero and Suarez, both of whom Chelsea have zero chance of getting. Everyone else is something of a risk.

All-in-all £32m is not a bad price for a player of Costa's quality. A sale back to Spain or Italy may be possible if he doesn't work out. I think Chelsea have to roll the dice. He might not perform quite like he did in La Liga, but I can't see him being worse than our strikers this past season.

Chelsea threw away the title. Inability to penetrate a "park the bus" defence from mid-table teams was costly. Ironically enough. Breaking down such teams has to be priority #1 next season if the premier league title is the goal.

I still think that City will have the strongest squad when the dust settles, but with Costa, Courtois and someone like Pogba/Koke in midfield then they'd be right up there with them. It will be a youthful team as well, which bodes well for the future.

Chelsea definitely threw it away.
And Mourinho stated repeatedly about their lack of a top striker.
Torres was a huge let down and sooner they can get rid of him the better.
As a Man Utd fan, I am glad that Torres is staying. The worst thing for us is if Chelsea get a top class striker.

What is truly amazing is that Torres is in the Spanish squad. Perhaps other people can see things in him that I can't.

I'm not saying that Athletico Madrid are massive drugs cheats but I'd be surprised if Diego Costa is as effective at Chelsea.

That Costa is going to bang them in i think, he's a complete machine. Him and Hazard have got some right speed and power..

I've seen plenty of Spanish football this season, enough to say that I think Costa to Chelsea is a cracking signing.

Looks like they've nailed Fabregas as well, a TV mic picked up Pique telling Del Bosque that he's off for 33 million.

33m euros is around 27m GBP.

That's Arsenals buy back price. I can't see Barca selling to Chelsea for that.

Anyway, I think Pique and Del Bosque were trolling the media.
