We've just been talking at work here about how you sometimes get people cropping up in films and tv shows that most people don't realise were ever in it.. for example, mine was Simon Pegg being in Band of Brothers.

Anyone got any others?

I was watching 24 season 6 the other day and noticed Stephen Merchant sitting at one of the desk's...

Google @stephen merchant in 24' to see the pic.. I dont wanna hot link it.

Wasn't Chris Moyles in it at some point as well? Might have just been him talking. Remember him going on about it on his show. Just a tiny background shot maybe.

Tom Hardy also in BoB. Quite a few British actors in it from memory.

Joss Whedon appearing in Veronica Mars (he also appeared in Angel doing a ridiculous dance but that is perhaps a little less surprising)

He's numfar in the background at 1:15 :D

Xander Berkeley seems to randomly crop up in about 10% of all films ever made. I never really paid him any attention until he played Mason in 24.
e.g. he's been in Terminator 2, Apollo 13, Heat, The Rock etc

Without a shadow of a doubt, seeing Michael Starke (Sinbad from Brookside) playing an American factory worker who gets stabbed in about 7 seconds slap bang in the middle of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit!!!!

He's awesome in the short series The Booth At The End.

Quite a lot of now-recognisable (now anyway) faces were in 24, especially early on.

Viggo Mortensen in every film he did before LotR!!
I was astounded at how many of his films I'd seen and not realised it was him. Tom Cruise got me in Tropic Thunder, as I didn't recognise the face but racked my brain over such a familiar voice.
