Not referring to the "average" players and their lack of awareness but more so the quickness of that melee and it only being a one hit kill.

Other videos are up and it does look pretty much impossible to kill someone "walking" towards you with that shield.

Shield isn't OP at all. The best comment I ahve seen in chat regarding it was this...

"There are two types of people in this server. Those that use shields and those that use explosives"

Frag rounds / C4 etc detroys shield users in no time or just shoot through the glass and kill the guy behind...easy. Defib kills in the same time as the shield ;)

None the less that sounds like its going to make some games very very very boring. Though if you can shoot through the glass and kill someone bring it on as a slow moving target with a reasonable aperture to shoot at is just ripe for my current style of using the 338 Recon in CQB.

how many times do you kill people one hit ?

shield is op its a joke . they stolen it from modern warfare 2 its for nubs on xbox pads.

Not sure a good number are 1 hit kills - someone moving slowly with a shield towards me would make it pretty easy though.

I think if they remove the melee ability on the shield it would be more viable - but I can still see it being used to great effect with vehicles and C4.

I would like the shield if it was a pick up only item placed strategically on levels like Lockers/Metro to help you get out of being locked down in your spawn area. It would work well to help you advance and push past. Not something you can equip for all scenarios, killing someone by butting them with the shield is ridiculous, you should at least point the base at them and thrust it like a spear, exposing yourself for a kill instead of remaining in 'cover'.

I guess what would make it more believable is if hitting somebody with the shield disorientates them, taking only some damage off them. Not sure how best to explain it, but have some mechanic that makes the player bit clobbered fall over/stumble and suffer concussion.

Yeah something like that. But 'knocking someone out' would be a whole new style of play that hasn't been in Battlefield before. Would be interesting to explore though - perhaps swap the knife for a knuckle duster that knocks the player out but doesn't kill them :D

uses for shield (the Sasso edition):

bullet shield....goes without saying.... what's the point if it can't do at least that xD

CQC - being able to knock someone back would be cool. so say you use it on an enemy, it could do a tiny bit of damage...maybe 10% but more importantly it can knock back a foot or two and interrupt firing for a second. could do something similar to the knife animation where if you get punted, you lose grip of the gun with one hand (so gun still in right hand but on edge of screen signifying it's out of action temporarily) and your left hand up as like a defensive move that pressed against the shield. only lasts a second or something then you can continue on as normal. could se it being great for trolling people off buildings and such haha....3 in a lift with it... all move out and close in on a camping sniper and a gentle bump off the roof hehe

tank shell deflector..... ok.... bit far fetched and in the world of fantasy, but if you had it "deployed" with a shallow enough angle towards the tank then you could deflect/ricochet the shell off the shield. I'm not talking full on bounce the thing back.... just a 5-15* course re-direction ;)
