Hello Motors.

Another one of my hot topic threads:

It seems that the motoring press that I frequent are loving this 100k garage challenge article at the moment.

Simple premise, pick whatever you want, 100k limit, as many or as few as you like.

The articles got me thinking, 100k is clearly a lot of money. When a new R8 list price is £100k, is any car like that worth it? Ignoring new and used for a moment, the fun you could have in a variety of cars for that budget is immense.

My questions are this;

If you had a hypothetical £100k that had to be spent on a single car, what would it be?

Why would you choose that single car over many used ones that excel in specific areas?

Would you keep your own current car? If so, you must add it to the list and subtract its current market price from the£100k budget!

Would you prefer many cars in your garage, perhaps a few classics?

What would your £100k garage be and why?

Here's mine.

£75k - Lamborghini Murcielago
Worth every penny.

£9k - My Honda S2000
Wanted one forever, now I have one. I love it so it has to stay.

£16k - EVO X FQ360
All year round Daily, Keep my Lambo nice.

£0 - E39 530i Sport. For always.
£40k - 640i M Sport GranCoupe. Best car on sale today for everyday motoring needs.
£20k - SL63 AMG - Because everyone needs a convertible
£14k - E39 M5.
£20k - Mini Cooper S - Because she needs something to drive.

Do I have to spend the rest too? Can't I set aside £6k to keep the E39's nice? :p

If you want to.spend money on restoration or upgrades for the choices then that would be interesting too.

Wouldn't want to spend the whole lot on one nice car?

Hmm, a tough one, I'd like each generation of M5 personally but given the price of the f10 and a decent e28 variant I think I'm a fair bit short with "just" £100k.....

Not really. Isn't really anything for £100k that I'd actually want. Most things I like are much cheaper. I guess I could blow it all on a high spec M5 but whats the point when it can get you so much more on the used market.

I typed out a discussion point for the OP. It wasn't supposed to be a 'name an expensive car you like' thread.

Reasoning.
Enthusiast discussion.

And now we are talking about Megan Fox.

I would keep my S2000. Nothing is faster than a car you don't care about :D

Then I think a R8 V10 for mincing about in :p
