Has anybody here had their car wrapped?

I'm thinking of wrapping my Mondeo, and wouldn't mind getting some opinions on people who've had theirs done.

I wouldn't get anything OTT just an electric blue colour.

If anybody has had it done, any recommendations of garages near London or Essex?

Specifically wrapped or dipped?

I've read a lot of negative points about dipping not so much about wraps, the wraps cost around a grand where dipping is around £400

I would love to get my car done as the paint work is quite bad in parts but the cost just doesn't seem to worth it as at the moment I couldn't care less about the about the odd stone chip etc where is if I had it wrapped paranoia would kick in

How do you dip your car? :D

Like so ;)

Plasti Dip resists alkaline, acids, salts, moisture, abrasion, and most chemicals, and is an insulating dielectric coating. It will not crack, chip or peel, and will remain flexible even under severe conditions (-34ºc to +93ºc).

Plastidip is ideal for computer modding as it allows colour customisation without the worry of permanent change. Users can modify the appearence of their cases and if they change their mind, they can simply peel the plastidip off!

Plastidip is ideal for use on plastics such as keyboards, mice, speakers, headsets, fans etc.
used correctly, you can put Plastidip on just about anything as a method for changing aesthetics for long term or temporary use.

It doesnt have to stop there, plastidip can be used on pretty much any suface and is really popular for other applications such as automotive modifications and other electronics projects.

Plastidip protects coated items against moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, and skidding/slipping, and provides a comfortable, controlled grip. Plasti Dip remains flexible and stretchy over time, and will not crack or become brittle in extreme weather conditions. It has been tested and proven in extreme temperatures.

I haven't had mine done, but a lot of friends have had theirs dipped or wrapped

you can tell a car has been dipped it doesn't look Factory fitted seems to be the more go to product for going IN YO FACE colours. I personally love bright coloured cars

Place around the corner from me does wraps, seem to do a good job but I'm not a personal fan of the look.

I've been considering getting my Evo done but I'm also considering getting a new car and can't decide.

If I went down the wrap route I'd be going to PWPRO, some of the cars they've done have been spot on.

I contemplated having mine done, but stories of poor workmanship put me off; things like having knife marks all over the original paint when you inevitably have to remove the wrap. Unless you car is near perfect (paint wise) you risk pulling original paint off as well.

Also, selling a wrapped/dipped car would be harder, if it ever came to that.

Above is purely based on research, I'm sure others will argue it's all false. :D

anyone who's done it, did it impact your insurance premium? I'm sure it would be something you have to declare as it's changing the entire colour of the car :p

No it's not? The car is remaining the exact same colour, it's just got something hiding it :p

I've got my car booked in at PWPRO in October, can't wait :D

If you don't tell the DVLA you might start to get pulled over if an ANPR shows the car to be black and it's wrapped pink :p

Paul charges £1500(+VAT) for a GTR so I'd expect to pay similar for a large car. He takes front bumper, rear bumper, doors, boot, spoiler, side mirrors all off the car. You can get it done cheaper but I'd never take my car anywhere else after seeing the level of care he takes.
