Games EA and SEGA have destroyed?

Got to agree how did Sega ruin Championship Manager, when CM and SIgames parted company SI took the code bought the name Football Manager and made it even better. How bizare of you to say.
I also enjoyed sim city this year, had a few bugs but was fun.

Definitely agree with Burnout. I'd love a new Paradise game, the Most Wanted reboot was a poor imitation. They should've left Criterion to their own devices.

EA:

Command and conquer 4 - what the hell where they thinking? Try and adapt a dawn of war 2 model, that doesn't really work, into a game that defined the RTS genre.

Dragon Age 2 - terrible game which a lot of people bought on the premise of having another epic adventure as the original. The sad thing is this game was so bad, it even makes me think long and hard about the new game, inquisition :(

SEGA:

Aliens colonial marines - Buggy, looked like utter turd and had the easiest difficulty curve in any FPS. The AI was game breakingly bad as well, to then have them ram DLC down our throats instead of fixing the major issues. They even added a film grain effect that had to be patched again to give players a toggle for it. The ONLY saving grace for this game is the truly excellent stasis DLC thats storyline is vastly better than the original game and would have done far better if the main story was just deleted and that was in its place instead!

Total war franchise - lost count how many poor optimised titles they've released now, especially with daft bugs. TW2 takes the final biscuit though and left a taste so bad in peoples mouths, it would have been better to just pay £30 to have someone **** in it instead.

Ultima Online - poor development ruined it before its peak, unforgivable because I've yet to see an mmorpg come close to it

Theme Park - crappy follow up titles, they gave up altogether when Rollercoaster Tycoon came about - think about this one... we all remember bullfrogs Theme Park, but how many of us remember the games which followed it? (theme park world/inc etc)

Dungeon keeper - poorly supported sequel, canned the franchise altogether. Released mobile app version in light of a kickstarter projects popularity (war for the overworld)

The Sims - mainly aimed at TS3 which is buggy to the extent it relies on third party mods to solve issues developers ignore, way too much DLC (not counting expansion/add on packs)

Syndicate - they turned a unique franchise with popular following into just another FPS flop

Command and Conquer - mainly because of CNC4, but also the likes of CNC renegade which was supported very poorly (and there clearly is demand for, going from the popularity of the Renegade X remake) Even more amusing that cnc4 is usually the first title EA chuck into the £4 bargain bin when theres a sale on.. probably just so on unit volumes it looks good to say they shifted a couple million even though the game was ****

Just a handful of examples from EA but theres plenty more where those come from.. not to mention the multi-kill effect when they buyout a studio for the sake of 1 or 2 franchises and lock all the other works/IP's away to rot because they are profitable, but not profitable enough.

In reality however you'd be hard pressed to find a company that didn't sin on its followers in some shape or form, even the most successful ones, and it also comes down to perspective of the consumer

I can't believe they destroyed C & C then didn't even release it, I still go back to Red Alert and wonder why no one has tried to recreate it 20 years on!?!?!?!

Have to get permission from franchise holder first.. they might had shut down the franchise but still hold rights, even the Renegade X creators had to ask first

I haven't sunk nowhere near the amount of hours into FM as I did with CM also CM could be more challenging whereas FM to me seems long winded, I just don't like FM or the break off CM series, it is just my opinion though but when it changed it died for me.

Also killing off Madden, NHL and Fight Night on the PC ticked me off.

Have they ever improved a game or just taken the fans of a previously great games/series for a ride?

Then of course they will want a fee or percentage of the profit, it is so wrong I have been crying out for a new C&C or a challenger for the FM series and as for the Sim City remake........ no thanks!

Yes but SEGA bought out FM breaking up the original CM, really I should be annoyed with the Devs for selling out but I just want to see out of interest what sort of hand EA/SEGA have played in the destruction of games.

I'll never forgive SEGA for taking down the Chromehounds online servers. Absolutely killed the game for me, the single player is hardly big or something that you can keep replaying. The main meat of the game was online.

It's almost akin to say, if CoD: Black Ops 2 had the online aspect shut down. The single player isn't really what you got the game for.

Not a game but Origin "powered by EA" that is terrible as you can't get refunds if the game your bought doesn't actually work.

Lord of the rings was also ruined by EA.

Selling out? From one big publisher to another? A lots of ifs and buts. I can tell you the game has continued to be successful and is a very good management sim.

I'm not with you on that one, it is relatively successful but only due to it being available on so many platforms with no real competition.

I can't argue if you think it's worse, as that's your opinion. It did have competition, Championship Manger games, but considerably out sold it till Square Enix pulled the game. Usually a game out sells another game as it is better, you can't really blame Sega for lack of competition.
