Mark McConville = Legend

Politics of envy.

I'll always support our home nations in football tournaments and I find it a shame that so many Scots and Irish can't do the same.

The guy could have probably taken his family on a nice holiday but he chose to spend it flying to Brazil and a ticket for a world cup game just so he could cheer on the opposition. Sad really

He was there because of charity work he did with Uruguay and he had been supporting them not only in this competition but also previous ones.

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that he's got nothing to do with Uruguay at all and he'd been doing charity work in brazil...

English football team - We've won the world cup once so its our right to win it again (everytime) then wonder why you get folk ripping the **** out of you :o

Source?

I think you're confusing England fans with Liverpool fans. The vast majority of England fans I know said we wouldn't even make it out of the group. I know none that said we could (and should) be winning it.

Is it any different to the inevitable booing that Louie Suarez will get on his return the English football?

No it's not.

the term "racial discrimination" shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life

Isn't banter meant to be light hearted and amusing? Not unfunny and to be honest, borderline racist.

It's light hearted and funny to most except the few English that seem to be seriously offended by a guy doing charity work in a foreign country wearing a Scotland strip flying the Scottish flag and enjoying a game.
The borderline racist comment is just unwarranted considering he's not said anything or done anything offensive.

Just sit back, relax, take a chill pill and enjoy the World Cup.

The media / pundits / fans.

Some rather woeful commentating tonight. - Teams playing Italy v Costa Rica. Costa Rica score and its disaster for England. Well thats great but they're not playing just now so why mention them? Even if i hark back to 98 when Scotland were playing they still mentioned England during the games and intervals, 94 when the irish were playing, the same......

Yeah I agree. You'd never find an English man in a world cup at a game where Scotland were playing, just so that he could cheer on the opposition. Simple reason really. We don't give a flying **** ! So tell me, who has the chip on their shoulder ? ;)

They're mentioned because they're a national team in the region and origin of broadcast!
The same way Scotland and England are mentioned in Welsh six nations matches and vice versa

Your applying that to supporting a team in an international competition. Absolutely retarded.

What if England were playing Scotland at the world cup? :p

As the definition states it's in any public or social situation. It isn't my fault you don't like the definition of racial discrimination.
Expected better of a don than to start referring to members as retarded.

As he is in Brazil probably!

He was supporting Uruguay in 2010 too. He loves South America. I guess you have to support someone if your team aren't in it. England fans will need to support a second team at this rate!
