Why must it be?

Just a theory from some scientists. Ignore that it is often said that all matter came from the big bang well before that the big bang singularity existed somehow.

Where did it exist?

It didn't. Nothing existed before the Big Bang as there was no universe for things to exist in. All mater was created after the big bang. Lighter molecules first followed by heavier ones later.

I don't know much about physics, but I was under the impression that we cannot actually see electrons (may be neutrons or protons or something) we just take it on faith that they exist because we can see what we perceive to be their effect on on the other atomy bits (I did say I don't know much about physics :P).

By your logic Electrons are false.

Most of the things in the Universe can't be seen but that's because your eyes didn't evolve for the purpose of studying it. The properties of the electron can be measured and doing so requires no faith.

That my friend is called Fraud. For example, in a ponzi scheme it is REQUIRED to disprove the claim (a genuine investment) to prove the fraud. And don't you dare circular argument me that the claim of fraud is the positive claim to be proved. I took you off my ignore list to respond. I don't know what you did to annoy me, so i don't expect anything good to come of your response.

Your example has nothing to do with the topic here, proof in a court of law is often quite different than scientific proof. A skilled prosecutor can prove intent in a murder trial but intent cannot be proven scientifically.

For the nano second or so the big bang was one condensed point it had to exist?

Confused...

In a nano-second the universe had already created the lighter elements. Before the big bang it didn't exist.

There are scientists who spend their careers shaving the origins of the universe into finer detail but before the big bang there was nothing. Nothing we can measure because our universe and the laws that govern it didn't exist (and thus no deities could exist either, perversely :D )

Based on our current laws of physics yes it did but if we base the known laws on physics that are post Big Bang then without them anything is feasibly possible.

For example the "cannot create or destroy energy" would maybe(most likely not) not be applicable pre Big Bang post Big Bang it is relevant and therefore skews our ability to comprehend how or if it actually happened. It can't be proved as we can't prove anything outside our current laws.

Not saying I believe in the Big Bang theory but it makes sense it just can't be proved.

You are being very certain about things the scientists your referring to are always very instant to point out they are not certain about.

there are lots of theories around the big bang and the tim e before it (and if there was a time before it or not).

You're ironically being like the person who goes to church and is told by a pastor one possible interpretation of a scripture and how it may be viewed and who then goes on to espouse that as fact and the only interpretation to everyone else.

usually to the preachers dismay.

elements didn't start to form for many millions of years - it was too hot.

No, they did form within nanoseconds. They existed as a plasma, but they were still hydrogen and helium. It took a few hundred thousand years for the universe to cool down enough for electrons to bind to the atomic nuclei and thereby cool down to the gaseous state.

Does anyone actually say god bless you? They usually just say bless you :p

I normally go with "ssshhhhh!!"

Not trying to be rude but is there any proof of this? You are stating it as though its a fact.
