Tour de France 2014 in UK

Going up to Harrogate tomorrow to watch the first stage. Weather looks decent for the afternoon and should be cracking day watching the race on the big screen in the fan park and then the end at the finish line.

Just driven home from the gym along part of the route and I'm gobsmacked at the amount of people and tents just randomly plonked around the place now. Never seen traffic queuing like that down there before! Think I underestimated how busy it is actually going to be.

Don't plan on leaving the house on Sunday, the sheer number of road closures etc is insane. You can't actually get from one side of Hudds to the other! Town centre is going to be jam packed.

Aye it's mad. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I've managed to wangle a working from home pass all weekend, 9-9 Sat & Sun -_- so will be cooped up in the house with Eurosport or such likes on!

Had a brilliant couple of days here. Went to the team presentation last night which was awesome (unfortunately the TV coverage was utterly butchered and they cut all the best bits)

Then today we went for a 'stalking' club run. Went to Rudding park where Omega Pharma Quickstep and Team Sky are staying. Team Sky were especially amenable and happy to chat and take photos. Sky Sports were there and got us involved in a few interviews and backdrop shots too. Then went for a 40 mile loop around segments of the course before heading back to Harrogate for a few beers. The atmosphere here is amazing at the moment - I don't want it to end though!
