Which do you prefer:
PC gaming or Console gaming? And why?

I've been a console gamer all my life, last few years on the PS3, and recently PS4. Never had a problem.
But since I plucked up the courage to dive into the PC, I haven't found myself return to the console.

I'm curious to what others prefer.

well this is a pc enthusiast forum, so expect replies to have a small degree of bias.

my view is pc for single player or multiplayer online, consoles for having a laugh with a few mates at home.

For me Its a console because thats what my friends play so we always talk on mic and we find it easy to jump in a game and party also they don't own decent PC's. I also own a decent gaming latop which does get a lot of use but I only really play single player games. But i understand why people play PC for a start the games are a ton cheaper I just find it difficult to keep updating a pc every so often as apposed to own the console for 10years.

Its been said time and time again, you don't need to update a PC any more often than you update a console. Both will be equally out of date by the end.

Well I was always a PC gamer until the 360 came along. Now I'm thinking of going back but I've been spending some time playing older games on my laptop and I seem to have some kind of shoulder issue playing with a mouse now. So I could plug in a gamepad and use Steam big picture mode but I may as well save a few bob and get a PS4 instead.

Started as a pc gamer, then got an x box and became a console gamer for a while other than a couple of pc games, got 360 and ps3 at launch and didn't have a pc only my mac book, built myself a new pc back in 2010 and have barely turned on my 360 since (ps3 gets used as a blue ray player) have no interest at all in the next gen consoles.

have no interest at all in the next gen consoles.

I'm not really that enamoured by them either but I know I will always have this niggle in my mind about playing Uncharted 4 and such other exclusives. Whereas the PC doesn't really have such AAA exclusives.

Best of both in this day and age.

The complex niche stuff i'll allways love love of just 'being there' on a pc, with me in a chair stright backed at a desk.

Days gone by you could get away without the need for a console, say 95/2005 where the action/sports games would pretty much be multi formats without the exclusives or non existant in the case of sports... unless it's football:/

Maybe that comes back a little now... with the new ps4/xb1 being easier to dump on a pc.. and the need to claw back the huge development costs on as many platforms as possible.

Steam is a great selling platform, and with the advent of game streaming to consoles/pc, there's no reason to fear piracy loss.

The only downside to PC gaming is the bloody cheating. Its tainted my FPS enjoyment a great deal tbh. Other than the odd MMO i hardly ever play multiplayer games online anymore :(

I'm still getting used to mouse and keyboard...
But skyrim is a joy on PC; Runs so much smoother and loads so quickly.

Looking at the PlayStation from a PC perspective for once, it's slightly annoyed me at how expensive the games actually are.

However, as much as i'm taking a shine to the world that is PC, I haven't enjoyed a game as much as The Last Of Us.

Depends on the games you like, ARMA 3 is pretty damn good, total war series I'd class as AAA, destiny (if it's not coming to pc) and uncharted do look good enough to persuade me to get a ps4. I will eventually end up with all the next gen consoles, but the games library isn't there for a good while yet to make me want one.

I console gamed from 1995 till 2009 and then both until 2012 and since I have been solely PC gaming. My PS3 is essentially a blu ray player.

The reasons I prefer PC gaming is the modding community and how much they improve the games (although setting up games can be a hair pulling stress you don't get with consoles) and also because my favourite games are strategy games and flight sims and PC have the best games for those 2 genres.

PC but I have consoles for exclusives like Forza, GT, Wii Sports etc, plus FIFA of course which seems to get nerfed on PC for some reason.

This. I started out with a a PS1 it was so simple just plug in and play. Tried playing a game once on my PC and it wouldn't play properly because it turned out I needed something called a graphics card, whatever that was. I'm a bit more knowledgable these days and its PC gaming all the way Steam has made things much easier. At least for those titles are available on a PC. I use my PS3 pad for gaming from the armchair, sitting at a desk is too much like work.

PC, it was Rollercoaster Tycoon in the late 90s that converted me :) But I still do enjoy console for certain types of games.
