Upcoming games to support DirectX

To say Nvidia are ahead of Mantle with their DX drivers is pretty laughable, TBH, Boom. :)

AMD are 100% + ahead of their own DX Drivers with Mantle, including BF4 where their DX drivers are better than Nvidia's.

Your total bias towards AMD is laughable matey.

Like I said before I just call a spade a spade..

Nvidia with new DX11 drivers is just as good as Mantle + AMD.

You do know I have played with all this stuff right? I'm speaking from experience and not some fanboy fantasy, but based on real tangible experience of the cards and they perform. If Mantle was as magical as you suggest and 100% better than Nvidia, wouldn't I just use the AMD cards? Come on man, calm yourself down a bit..

100% better.... Lol..

Mantle has what 2 or 3 games? You talk about this as if it's the second coming of christ.. Bit weird if you as me. As long as it keeps you happy though I guess.

Peace.

He was sitting in PCPer's offices getting interviewed, not long after... PCPer managed to get hold of NVidia's FCAT tool.

I find that very convenient.

PCPer have had Nvidia's FCAT tool for years. they used it to highlight the fact that at the time Nvidia were smoother than AMD in some games, which forced AMD to fix their drivers.

They gave AMD a lot more stick back then than they are giving Nvidia now for the same problem.

I'm not doubting you, Boom, but do you have any posted benches on here to back that up? ED: Or even just a link to something that does.

Honest question mate. Just genuinely curious to see the comparison :)

Want to bench the best case scenario for Mantle, Star Swarm?

Oh wait, AMD setups are going to lose there...

And how about those battlefield's and plants vs zombies games:

You can go on and on about isolated incidences of frame latency on either side of the fence (because frankly multi GPU depending on the game is broken often on both AMD and Nvidia).

But. But you can't deny that Nvidia isn't leaps and bounds ahead of AMD when it comes to DX11 CPU overhead.

What you see with mantle vs. NV/AMD DX11 comparisons is that NV DX11 and mantle trade blows, NV wins some like star swarm and thief, while AMD wins some like PVZ and BF games. But what always happens in those comparisons is that AMD's DX11 gets left in the dust. And badly.

Don't believe me? Show me your best Star Swarm follow score and I'll put up an Nvidia score that's better.

And don't start with the "performance degrades after 5 minutes" nonsense, matt tried that once and I proved him wrong by showing that in SS it's actually mantle that experiences worse frame drops and latency as time goes on (though in the case of SS it's because it's always increasing the amount of ships in the simulation).

BETA games with no optimisation ^^^^

I seem to remember you saying Mantle was the real deal, that it was smoother than Nvidia's DX. Boom.

Would my memory be correct?

Nvidia don't win in Thief, you need massively overclocked Intel CPU's to match the Min FPS of a CPU a third the power of the CPU needed for the same level in Mantle, in thief too Mantle is vastly better than Nvidia DX.

Actually, you know what, i will take you up on that, you post results with that FX-8350 you have in your signature on your Titan and i will do the same with my FX-8350 and the 290. you will lose miserably.

AMD's DX11 BF4 performance is fine. In the majority of testing they're ahead of Nvidia in most cases. In Mantle the gap widens even further. Thief is more balanced granted, but that engine massively favours Nvidia so it's a surprise that AMD is even able to get close. Their DX performance in Thief is poor, so no arguments there. Starswarm is just weird and it's not a game just a tech demo but yes i agree. As for PvZ Mantle is offering 28% more performance over AMD/Nvidia DX11 performance at 4K and the gap is about to widen even further when the new patch hits. AMD's DX11 performance looking fine here too imo.

Mantle offering big gains of up to 28% faster on Plants Vs Zombies over AMD/Nvidia DX11 performance at 4K.

Performance updates coming for Mantle In Plants Vs Zombies. Being 28% faster than AMD/Nvidia DX11 performance is not enough.

Its alright Matt, i have accepted his challenge. :D

Pcper have been doing FCAT testing for a very long time and it was used to highlight AMD problems back in 2013. They've always had it. It's not something that has just been used by pcper to make Nvidia look bad.

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphi...ils-Capture-based-Graphics-Performance-Test-2

This. Pcper actually used it to call AMD out at first as they said crossfire had no latency problems at the time. In stepped Pcper and published all their results and shortly afterwards they admitted there was a problem and then came the frame pacing stuff. The claims that AMD use it to make Nvidia look bad are nonsense, just the same as the claims that Nvidia used it to make AMD look bad. The FCAT software was developed by the Pcper people IIRC Matt? Im sure you will remember better than myself

Yes correct mate. I hold my hands up and admit it made uncomfortable reading at the time being an AMD User. However looking back now im glad it happened because it has improved my experience massively. I still don't agree with some of the things Ryan wrote at the time regarding AMD, however i am grateful that him (and others ) writing about it forced AMD to improve and therefore improved the AMD gaming experience. So much so in some titles AMD are now ahead and Nvidia are playing catchup.

Yeah I had my 7970s at the time and it did feel a bit harsh but yes thats bang on. Things like this can only benefit both camps as it pushes them on. Pcper get a bit stick for being Nvidia bias but it used to be an AMD site years ago. Cant recall the name now but even that was AMD related

Yep and i hold my hand up and at the time i thought that. I've changed my tune a bit since then. They do more things with AMD now and seem a more balance site. I think think Ryan has a preference for Nvidia, but he genuinely seems to report fairly on both companies so no issue from me.

BF4 is awful anyway, tired old gameplay. Don't understand why people seem to care so much about it.

I agree there dude. Uninstalled it months ago and EA,s constant cycle of apology (bring out broken game, deny its broken, admit its broken and claim fix is incoming, release new info about next game 2 weeks later) means Hardline will not be on my to play list this year

Agreed, people seem to be arguing over 3-4 games when the pc market has hundreds/thousands of games.

Anyway I am off to an appliance forum to defend hotpoint tumble driers as they are clearly the best by a country mile. :D
