Upcoming games to support Mantle

Strange I have two and when gaming never pass 80c stay very quite also. Probably from reviews the most quite version of the 290s.
Also got mine on release week and yet to have any real driver issue performance wise. I did notice 14.6 made idle temps bit higher.

It is possible I had a dud unit with crappy thermal paste (something I find MSI has done before) or some crappy driver install after my nvidia card. When I asked support if I could take it apart they offered a refund and I took it and "survived" with my 680 for a couple of months.

From a business side AMD should do everything in there power to get GTA5 on mantle. They should also make sure it runs like silk on there hardware as no other game has the power to change opinion's.

GTA games are typical of the type of games that would strongly benefit from Mantle, not sure if V will get it but its almost certainly something they will be looking at for future titles.

One of the reasons they often have so few pedestrians and cars and are so tightly zoned due to the overheads of handling each one as an individual object not just for AI but rendering to.

I'm not sure if GTA V on PC will be using DirectX 11 (I assume so), in which case it should benefit greatly from the Compute Shader pipeline introduced into DX11 in which calculations usually completed by the CPU (AI, physics ...) can be moved off onto the GPU during scenes where the graphics card doesn't have a huge amount of rendering to do - this could allow for a greater number of AI in the game.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Mantle also has a very similar feature which involves moving data to the GPU for quick calculation as the CS pipeline in DX 11 does (not sure what the terminology for it is in the Mantle API though).

Im still waiting to see the first MMORPG adopt Mantle, i think its a no brainer, they market these games at fairly low spec rigs for mass appeal, Mantle would allow them to dial it up to 11 on rigs that supported it.

Ive played MMO's for years and often in raids you would find yourself dialling down effects and stuff with 100 or so people on screen (DAOC PVP / EQ1 Raids) all lobbing spell effects around etc, Mantle would help here im sure.

every MMO should have Mantle Patch, a lot of them are coming out using cryengine, this could happen, but i have no clue if crytek is gonna survive or what.

I've been following the Intel GPU guy on twitter after seeing Alatar keep linking to his posts on Beyond3d. He seems keen to try Mantle when it becomes open. I have a feeling Intel may use Mantle for a while, if given the chance.

Its a good forum that, its where all the facts are happening, its where the people 'who know' contribute, i keep seeing repi pop up there politely smacking down Mantle and BF4 myths.

most devs comments i saw in twitter or articles, show them to be very excited about Mantle, and most likely the NDA prevents them from sharing too much.
i can't wait for the Mantle beta to end, and see the community disecte the code and features, and make a proper comparaison between Mantle and DX.

Yep so much held back by NDA at the moment. The futures bright though, i just wish we could speed things up a bit. #Impatience

its going to be in beta for a long-time API generally do

Well for people that care we have Sniper Elite V3 Mantle to look forward to soon. Then it's a long wait till October the 7th for Dragon Age and after that Battlefield Hardline on the 27th of October.

october has a lot of game releases, 7th is alien isolation, if the rumor is true then it will have mantle too.
and 24th october is civilization beyond earth, that is confirmed Mantle.
then rumours speak about GTA 5 too coming in october..
plenty of Mantle titles for the holidays yay :p

I know i got excited in the OP, but i think we need to be realistic and expect that not all of those games will actually become Mantle titles. 40-50% sounds more realistic to me and that will be excellent. :)

Do we know how many will ship with Mantle (like PvZ?) and how many will update at some point with a patch (like Thief and BF4)?
Also do we know how many were design with Mantle in from the start rather than added on and made to fit a 'system' made/designed to wrk around DirectX?
I think that last one could be the key and would be really good to see a game that while not designed around Mantle did at least consider it in the early stages so that they could get the most out of it.

Also, any indication of Mantle offering something extra visually above higher framerates, which, while nice are not always a problem that needs solving. You know, use this extra control they have to do something they haven't been able to do before, rather than just do the same old stuff a bit (or lot) faster?

once mantle is integrated into the graphic engine it will ship with it.
exemple BF4 was the first game, they were working on intergrating it into frostbite, once it was done and working well, that why PVZ was shiped ready, even hardline beta was Mantle ready.
same for thief, and elite 3, now rebillion is integrating Mantle to Asura engine, once it's done, their next game using asura engine will ship Mantle ready.

Well yeah, I didn't specify I realise, hence the confusion, but I was really meaning the ones that don't have an engine that is currently released with Mantle support, you would expect any game using the Frostbite engine to support it, unless they're using a really old build.
Would expect any game using the Frostbite 3 and Nitrous Engine (that's the one from Star Swarm that they've not yet decided if it will support multi-GPU isn't it?) and following thief, probably Unreal Engine 3. But what about CryEngine, LORE and Crystal?

The only upcoming Mantle games I'm currently tempted by are Mass Effect and possibly Dragon Age (must play at least one of the existing ones first!), but they both use Frostbite 3 so I may pass on them.
The new Civ game may be good, but need to try 5 first (3 & 4 were ok-ish, but got bored really quick). Also the new CoD game (what!? I generally dislike vehicles in my online shooters) might be worth a punt.
I'd like to say I'm looking forward to the Star Wars game, but every time they announce a Star Wars game that isn't KOTOR3 I lose interest.
