Good morning all,

So I could really do with finding a hobby or interest that does not involve any form of physical exercise and is not related to sitting in front of the PC. I could do with getting out to do something, meeting new people, something creative maybe. Trouble is I have no idea what to do. Wondering what you all do as some down time?
I am slowly driving myself insane so need to do something to keep my mind from wandering. I am a postman so walk quite a lot each day and I go to the gym after work, hence I don't want my more exercise, I use to run and do kickboxing as well but it got to much. I then study in the evenings (well I should be) which involves time at the computer so that is why I would like something away from the confines of my room.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Competitive sports can be fun. Football, basketball, ice hockey - any of those appeal?

Did you read the question?

Thought about getting into cars? Maybe take an evening class in maintenance and then do up an old banger?

Hmm..
1. Astronomy - also writing software for it (although it's been known for me to simply look through the telescope)
2. DIY - ok.. more like doing things and wood working
3. Just started - Oil painting.. because unlike a doodle it feels different todo..
4. On the odd occasion - sea fishing, although I used to fly fish with my dad.
5. I shall be adding some running in there to get rid of the flab.

Hmm.. bit of balance of everything

Why no physical exercise? If you spend too much time sat down in front of a PC then it's the best way of improving your lifestyle.

It's in the OP "I am a postman so walk quite a lot each day and I go to the gym after work, hence I don't want my more exercise".

but I too am going to ignore it too and say road cycling. Can take up quite a long time and you don't have to push yourself hard so wouldn't need to be too taxing.

Or if you have a lot of money, buy an interesting car.

Hobby electronics? Admittedly, crosses over with using the PC if you get into Microcontrollers/Arduino, but doesn't have to.

Yes I did. A single guy doing a job on his own who goes to the gym on his own does not suggest to me that team sports would be a bad idea.

Did your read the bit where it says does not involve any form of physical exercise? Its kind of key.

Get a few other posties together for a 5 a side each week?

My job is pretty physical for the most part too so I got involved with other geeks rolling dice and role playing. Few beers and snacks, pen and paper with character sheets and that's an evening taken up with no PC and lots of laughs (no serious by the book players allowed)

Well I have a mountain bike so I do go out on that as well and enjoy the odd ride so maybe I should throw that in there also. Just the thought of doing any more exercise is enough though and I have dabbled in various things and although I have enjoyed them maintaining the energy to keep doing it is difficult.

I have been considering an art class of sorts but I don't want to do any form of qualification for it which is mostly what I am finding when searching, I already study something else so doing more of that is a no go for me.
Have also considered photography but it seems very expensive to get into? I like the idea of that urban exploration but would probably need to learn to take a photo first ha.
Also have a motorbike and considering going out on for a ride in a minute, now I have finally charged the battery again.
