This is so awkward. Shouldn't these sort of things be handed out after the tournament?

Just get the teams up there to collect their medals, they don't care about this rubbish.
 
Messi showed up for a total of about 30 mins in the whole tournament, and missed guilt edged chances in most games. Absolute joke to give him the award, Muller has easily been better than him. Schweinsteiger has been better, Robben has been better.

Because this is a team that has been built from the ground up 10+ years ago.

All of these players have grown together for long long. Happy for them

Messi wasn't in the best 10, maybe 20. He scored 4 goals in a team where he took all the freekicks and had everyone mostly playing for him. He was anonymous in say 80% of most of the games. There were a bunch of attackers who were much better, plenty of defenders who were much better than him and multiple midfielders who were better than him.
