Windows 9 is actually what Microsoft wants to sell you

Wins 8.1 barely be out and ms is talking about Wins 9? Wins 8.1 is a mess.but I'm just now getting use to it.

No. Win9 has been talked about for ages. It's a three year cycle. Guess what those three years are almost up.
Vista jan 2007
W7 Oct 2009
W8 Oct 2012

It is coming up to time for w9 to be released. If its out in October that early. It would also be the first time they didn't have a developer preview. Developer preview normally comes about ayear before general release.
For a October release it would also need to be released to manufactures in August.

So to say I'm skeptical about an October release is an understatement, its just not going to happen. When developer preview is released you'll get a good idea about when it'll actually be released.

I think early next year is a better release date, and yes three years go by quickly.

It's amazing XP had six years before a new OS ie Vista appeared.

I hope were able to upgrade to wins 9 cheaply?

Hardly anyone likes windows 8, they are ditching metro in 9 which makes defenders of it seem ridiculous.

Don't be so sure, seeing as that leak, uses "screen shots" from deviant art. they also aren't just going to ditch the store. Metro will be staying.
It'll more than likely continue to blurr the lines, just like in 8.11 you can show apps in taskbar. Win9 will like have more customisation to turn metro stuff off. Default to desktop on desktops and default to metro on touch, and settings to allow you to do either or a mix. Especially as Folley has said metro will move to a back seat roll on desktops, be the main interface on touchscreens and switch between the two on all in ones. Which is a far cry from removing it. Very much sounds like it'll default to desktops on desktops with user settings to bring it to the front, if you want it.

Why is it always so bloody expensive?

A Win 8.1 Pro key is what, £199 from MS themselves? Why when Apple can sell their OS' for what, anything from £20-50?

If it was £30 uptake would be a LOT better and they would even sway pirates to purchase it imo.

Although I agree, why don't people just buy it at launch when it's like £15, always get me several licenses, whether I need it or not, annoyed I sold my third license as I want it back now.

You did not take up the special 15 and 25 quid offers for Win8 from Microsoft which also gave you free upgrade to Win8.1?...I know I did and yes mine was Pro version which was the best valued Windows OS I have ever purchased :) .

Two Win8 Pro x64 Operating Systems for £40 total in my case all legit :).....Also got the free WMC add-on as well on both of them via Microsoft at the time ,I just hope they do the same thing for Win9.

+1

Maybe they will release a free home version, there was some talk of a free version I believe incorporating Bing or something.

it would seem that despite the overall progress made with win 8 the public and more importantly businesses will not adopt it as M$ intended due to its UI flaws for keyboard and mouse users.

Therefore rather like Windows ME M$ would rather go to Windows 9 and sweep Windows 8 under the carpet.

I can see what they are doing and as long as they don't drag their heels too much in the release of Windows 9 it will probably work. The danger for M$ is if they release another OS that the world at large considers to be a dud. The previous Vista cockup gave Windows XP an extraordinary lease of life that M$ could have done without and now they find themselves in the same boat with Windows 7.

only time will tall.

Anyone who types "MS" has no valid opinion. Additionally it doesn't have "UI Flaws for mouse and keyboard users" it's perfectly usable, different and is actually faster to access stuff via the start screen than other version of Windows.

Also, there wasn't actually much wrong with Vista, Windows 7 is a slighly refined version, there are more differences really between 7 and 8 than there are Vista and 7. The actual issue with Vista was to do with OEMs and hardware manufacturers.

Some just couldn't sort their drivers out, and had class actions brought against them, and OEMs were installing Vista on computers that barely met the XP spec. Vista on a good spec computer was fine.

I bought a few copies of 8 when they were £15, as did some friends too. If they keep doing early upgrade editions for such a price then I'll continue to buy Windows.

It's also OSes, you don't use apostrophes to denote plurals. :)

think its because like all things, let the early adopters get hit with any bugs and most folk wait for feedback before deciding if they want it or not, which ofc is after the price has gone back up.

if its free i'll defo be checking it out on the laptop before deciding if the big rig could benefit from it. if its cheap i'll do exactly the same thing but use it a lot more to make my mind up before the price goes up.

^ I originally bought Win 8 early with no intent of using it until the release of big updates or a service pack. It was so cheap that I'd have regretted not doing so.
