Question in the title really..

For me, Source, 1.0 & 2.0

Why?
It allowed low end computers even laptops to play half-life with great graphical detail & is still used today. in Counterstrike Source & CS GO /Halflife Episodes.

CSS was a great achievement for source allowed multiplayer to come accessible to more (ok Qauke did too)

Source is a good one for similar reasons to OPs, also Dark Engine because it offered one of the most immersive stealth experiences at the time, and still does today imo.

Might not be a popular choice, but i'd say Unreal Engine 3

Two fold.

1) The sheer scale of titles using it, allowing developers to concentrate on the game they had in mind. (XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Brothers: A tale of two sons, Spec Ops: The Line, Mass Effect 1-3 etc)

2) The scaleability of the engine. Worked great on Xbox 360 (Gears of War) and scales well on top end PC's (Bioshock Infinite, Arkham Knight)

Source.

You just have to look at Titanfall to see how well its stood up!

FYI its a shade over 10 years old now.

I'd probably pick the source engine because of how scaleable is was/is on pc hardware, but I'd also give a nod to Unreal Engine 3.
I have high expectations for Unreal Engine 4. The sheer number of platforms it'll be able to run on for a start are amazing. Including in a browser like UE3.

It's way older than 10 years but the id tech 3 (Quake 3) engine should be a notable mention anyway. Because strafe jumping!

RTCW, Wolf:ET, Jedi Knight series, Call of Duty series.

idtech3 has to get a mention.

TBH I'm not a fan of a lot of engines they just don't have the robustness of early id engines. Even the source engine, even the latest version is still heavily based on idtech engines - if you ever get to peak at the source code theres a fair bit of (C) id software scattered about in some header files.

The engine used for Omikron, The Nomad Soul impressed me as well shame the game was clunky to play.

EDIT: Oops now I have the Omikron game selection screen music on loop heh.

Unreal 3, as others have said the sheer amount of games made using it, is insane.

It's showing its age now, but has given us so many great titles I think it's far and above any other.

Got to mention id tech 3. Quake 3 is still the king of FPS for me.

It's early days for Forgelight, but so far I'm very impressed.

Source for me , when half life 2 first came out , the ragdoll physics of not just the bodies but objects too, ripping a radiator off the wall or one of the saw blades with the mavity gun never got old, and like someone said you've only to look at titanfall to see how well it's stood up over 10 years and how well optimised it is :)

Also gotta say Cryengine , first far cry was jaw-dropping when it first came out

No one mentioned REDengine used for the witcher games , witcher 2 looks amazing , and witcher 3 looks like it's going to set the bar for graphics when that comes out

Unity. It has offered Indie developers and hobbyists the chance to make cost-effective and free games across multi-development platforms with the tools that would have traditionally only been available to AAA studios.
