Hey, just stumbled upon this.

Because you’re a passionate The Sims 2 player, we’re making The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection available free of charge to download to your Origin library. To add the game, just follow these steps:
Start by downloading and installing Origin. If you already have Origin you can skip to step 3.
Not an Origin member? Create a free Origin Account to get in the game.
Launch Origin and log into your Origin Account.
From the ‘Games’ tab in the Origin menu, select ‘Redeem Product Code’ and enter the code
I-LOVE-THE-SIMS
If you’re already an Origin member, you can also redeem your code online. Just visit the Origin code redemption page and log in to your Origin Account. Then enter I-LOVE-THE-SIMS in the ‘Product Code’ field.

Log into Origin and download and play the game any time you want .

Thanks for being a passionate The Sims fan, and enjoy your copy of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.

This code will available for redemption until July 31st, 2014 at 10AM PDT.

Does it hang or actually say your password is invalid? I doubt this offer is that popular.

If only I could download it on steam, even so I wouldn't play it anyway :P

Let's not start that debate please, just informing people of this offer.

So it is all the DLC, nice very nice indeed. Wonder if we see any origin bashers in this thread LOL.

Yep, SoulWings just above. The critique levied at Origin makes zero sense sometimes, I know it's general EA hate but the platform on its own, is serviceable and actually better than Steam imo. For one the UI isn't a chore to navigate.

Yep I always get max download speeds too whereas with Steam it can vary at times.

YAY!

Loved the Sims 2!

Also, I actually get better download speeds with Origin and I actually prefer the UI... (runs for cover :D)

From what I can see Sims 2 isn't on Steam anymore?

Have to laugh at those saying that Origin is better than Steam though, it's closer than it's ever been but that's just taking it a step too far. :D

For everyone stuck at 800x600 this is the fix:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\GraphicRules.sgr

seti Low 3
seti Medium 3
seti High 3

seti textureMemory 1744

option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $MediumButDefaultLow
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end

Load up and in options you should have more to choose from. This should be for people who need a higher res:

option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end

Found from various sites. This should fix any ratio issues:
