The Official Samsung Galaxy Tab S Thread

My tab 8.4 was delivered yesterday and first impressions are that this is a sleek and sturdy device. Obviously the headline feature is the AOL ED screen which is to die for everything just pops out at you.

Generally it's quite fast and fluid and I have encountered the occasional micro stutter but it doesn't detract from the experience. Overall a good purchase.

Was in a shop looking at the S Tab 10.5" and if they had a 32GB version I would bought it right there.

Now in hindsight I'm glad I never because the Exynos version appears to be a real dog when it comes to GPU performance, it's about on Par with Adreno 320 from Snapdragon 600.

Samsung?!, what were you thinking? Why? :(

I managed to buy the 10.5 tab s last night in the titanium bronze colour.

Played with it all last night, setting it up just the way I like it.

I can say that it is absolutely lovely to look at, the screen just pops, to the point where I have to lower the brightness as it's so bright.

I've put apex launcher on it, as I'm not such a big fan of default icons and this is my first experience with touch wiz. The multi window thing still works with the launch which is great.

Battery life seems to be okay, haven't really put it through its paces yet.

Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a new tablet.

Once more, the screen....

The Guardian review stated that Samsung have said if they don't make any inroads into the high end tablet market with the Tab S they will give up on it and just make lower priced tablets.

If the SOC is a 5420 then it has a ARM Mali T628 MP6 which should yield a performance somewhere between the 320 and the 330, which doesn't look too bad to me.

Was trying to find the Tab S 8.4 yesterday the old fashion way of going into a store and buying it, but came away with nothing as nobody had it in stock, couple of places where trying to sell me an iPad mini retina instead. :/

So ordered it online and saved myself £20 in the process to for the 16GB wifi version.

Tbh i should have done this in the first place, instead of wasting time and petrol driving about plus i would have had it today, now have to wait till tomorrow... oh well.

Not had issues with mine yet the 10.5 version but then again am not a gamer. The screen on this is amazing , my friends have the Ipad air and the other the 10.1 pro and they well jealous.

I got the official Samsung flip cover, it doesn't cover the whole back of the device but raises it enough so that the protruding camera lens doesn't get scratched when you put it down on a table.

I have the option to get a 10.5 S from USA (works out about £315) but I am wary you get zero warranty. Is it worth saving?

With O2 Priority you can seem to get it for £374 in the UK (least that's the best I can see)
