R9 290 are terrible or is it me ?

Plus the CoolerMaster V series, made by Seasonic, I have the 1000W version, excellent PSU and also the same size as smaller PSUs so easy to fit if you're short on space?

Don't see how that PSU isn't enough unless its a faulty unit. You tried using another 6+2/6pin cables?

Yeah sounds like a faulty PSU, 650w is enough for stock specs, I think its worth enquiring to corsair or ocuk about the psu being faulty

only had the PSU since april but is it really worth sending it back for the cost of £20 when i could just upgrade to an 850 and sell mine on for about 75 as someone wants it already ?

Sounds like a PSU issue for sure as above, i had it with my old system.

Not sure on the power consumption difference between your cpu and my 3570k but im running a 4.5ghz CPU overclock and an R9 290 with a 1200/1400 GPU overclock with a corsair TX 650w so unless AMD chips are a lot more power hungry then it might not be the wattage just a fault in general.

I got a duffer, worked fine for 3 days then started black screening, increased in frequency until it didn't even output a signal on startup.

Tested on 2 Psu's and on return to retailer and got a refund.

Loved it while it worked but grabbed a 270x I got at a cracking price.
